Episode 650: Northwestern 45-Ball St. 14

But, uh, homecoming.

I mean, great day.

It, it was a gorgeous day out.

We saw s- a ton of people coming back to campus.

Um, awesome to see everyone who w- who made it over to the pod, everyone who, uh, made it over to the tailgate, everyone who came up to us in the stands, in the concourse, everyone.

So great to see everyone.

Um, really, really cool.

And hey, we played a game too, against a team that we beat-

It's-

... badly.

It's, it's funny, this was our first opportunity to see both this stadium and this team during the daytime.

Yeah.

Which is kind of crazy to say, like, as far as we are into this season.

But it was...

I also feel like it was a little bit of a, a leveling out, not necessarily a coming down, but the Penn State game and the 24, 48 hours that followed it were just so...

I mean, you all listened to the last pod.

You all were there [laughs].

You all remember.

Like, it was all so wall-to-wall insanity.

And you know, one of the things we talked about that's so awesome, and parallels to that amazing eight-day stretch from 2000, which awesome callback to when the 2000 team was honored, uh, at the end of the third quarter of this football game.

But the, that window of, like, the idea of being like, "All right, we're in this bubble," and, and it keeps going, and that's what's so great.

Well, this has kept going.

At the same time, it was nice to just have a little moment to be like, "Okay, we're playing Ball State now.

Let's just, like, level out again.

We'll take a deep breath." And, and that's the thing is like, yeah, parts of this game weren't pretty, and yeah, we didn't cover.
