Do you think it's, like, a level of, like, we used to be able to have the illusion that, like, college football was these guys go to class with us, represent our school, and now the illusion is kinda gone? Is that what we're a- angry about? Are we throwing our fist up to a cloud 'cause we're mad that time has gone by and things have changed? Because I watched the Michigan game, where they lost.

Michigan played Western Michigan University, and for those that are not football people, I th- like, to me, the college game has turned more into You know, random spins of the roulette wheel more than it is a game that has narratives and storylines, because every game is its own slot machine that you're could bet on, you know, hypothetically.

Yeah.

And every game has, you know, like the...

And I got caught in it.

You know, that's Clemson the same way.

You got Indiana, you've got USC, you've got Oregon.

Of course, there's Michigan at the end of the year.

So I wouldn't sit here right now and say like, there's one specific team.

I think Ohio state will lose too, but I would say that I think most likely Ohio state loses one more game.

Because this sport's crazy, man.

It's crazy, Dylan.

And so I think, like, as frustrated as Ohio State fans are right now, I think you have to look at Oregon, right? Like, Michigan had a ridiculous week one and just had a great week two.

There's going to be a lot of inconsistent teams here.

Go ahead.

Speaking of counting, Leona has an issue with Kelvin because he says, or she says, that rigged Michigan game in week one was technically week two because of week zero, Kelvin.

Might cost Michigan a playoff spot if they lose a game.

Oh, no, that's going to cost Michigan a playoff.

Like how dare you not recognize week zero, Dub, and then you just ruin the whole week

schedule.

Now let's talk about a couple of teams that did not live up to the expectations of this past week, and that's Oklahoma and Oregon.

Don't know where you want to start, but OU going to Michigan.

Michigan had a... poor performance against uh in their first game wind up winning the game on a controversial call that we talked about but how surprised were you that oklahoma and that offense just couldn't get it done

yeah i was tough to watch wasn't it it was like goodness gracious uh and then look as like a former quarterback like i like fireworks but i also have like an appreciation for the grinded out games too like i do like i'm not played at alabama like grinding it out is how we won games but that was like next level tough Um, you know, here's the thing we hear all off season about Oklahoma, how different they are.

Oh, look at the tight ends.

It's like John Mateer tried to do too much in a game that requires field position.

You can't throw it over the middle in traffic and let it get undercut.

I mean, what was the likelihood of Michigan? You really gave up one long run.

They had a very underwhelming offensive game up at the big house.

And is John Mateer not as good as we thought? Because I know the excuse last year coming back quickly from the broken thumb and surgery, but there were so many passes against that Michigan defense this past Saturday that a lot of competent quarterbacks make, and he just couldn't.

Yeah, I think it's a combination of factors.

One is, I mean, look, John Mateer was QB1 in the transfer portal, $4 million man.

They beat a Washington team under Jed Fish that was all right, but definitely not what it was after the championship team that made it to the game with Kalen DeBoer.

At Michigan State, they were in shambles.

Michigan, but they won at home.

Okay, that was Michigan winning, and they also weren't put together.

At Ohio State and beating Purdue.

Now let's see what does UCLA have.

Nevada's a very winnable game on Halloween.

If they don't, we will be very, very, and I mean very frustrated.

They still have Oregon ranked.

I don't know why we still put Michigan in just because they beat Oklahoma.

They have a, there's someone else that like was on there that really towards the bottom.

That was like, why are you here right now? Are you watching? You're not invited.

Given where I'm put in Michigan and Western Michigan, I wish you hadn't mentioned that I'm an AP voter.

No, but see, that's like the John, you and I first crossed paths like 15 years ago when you and I were kind of like two of the weird AP voters that people got mad at sometimes.

And look at us now, baby.

To John's point, I just think, you know, It's one thing to take over a program that you've been in for a while, like Ryan at Ohio State or Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame and become a first time head coach that way when you already know the lay of the land.

You go from Georgia defense coordinator to the Pacific Northwest to be a head coach, 36 or whatever he was when he got that job, and to pretty much dominate, it's really, really impressive, really, really hard to do.

And I know in some ways you could say Oregon's the best job in the country, right, because you've got more money and toys than God, and you probably don't have the pressure that you do at Ohio State or Michigan or Notre Dame.

But, you know, to go undefeated in the Big Ten in your first year in that conference – and, yes, I understand John's point of they were preparing for this for a while.

Well, of course, they had Glenn Powell as the celebrity prognosticator, so maybe that had something to do with it as well, the matchup, etc.

So it is interesting that the Fox big noon kickoff was Michigan and Oklahoma, and And that game dominated at noon.

That game had some 8 million people watching at noon.

Whereas the ABC game after college game day was Texas A&M and Arizona State.

And they had a weather delay during part of that game as well.

But that game only got a couple of million.

Not nearly the same as what Michigan and Oklahoma got just while we're keeping track.

Of all of this, let's shift off the football and let's go to something somber.
