Many may think that this debate began with Martin Luther or the Protestant Reformation, but in fact, this debate is an expression of the two paradigms that we have continually examined, the God-centered paradigm and the man-centered paradigm.

It gets at the heart of the human condition, and it reveals the profound mystery of the monergistic gospel.

For all of history and into the modern age, mankind has been sold the lie that he must do in order to be.

This is the paradigm of religion, of Satan's gospel, and it is spiritual slavery.

As long as you are doing in order to be, you will never arrive at your goal, because there is always something you must do in order to create the state of being that you are after.

It makes sense in a worldly way that it falls on you to do something in order to achieve the result.

But what do you assume in order for that to be true? You assume that you are in control and that the final outcome depends on what you do.
