Holy Spirit

They are will, intellect, and emotions.

The function of the body is to be the temple of God, the dwelling place of God, the Holy Spirit.

And when the Holy Spirit takes residence in the temple, then we are obligated to present our members to God, the Holy Spirit, to yield them as slaves or instruments of God's purposes.

And as the body is yielded to the Holy Spirit, it becomes sanctified or holy or set apart to God.

Today, I'm going to speak about God's program to control regenerated man, how the three elements of regenerated man should relate to each other.

This is a very, very important question because we may be regenerated, but if we don't understand how to function after regeneration, we may miss much of God's purpose for us and also many of the blessings that God has for us.

The soul willingly accepts death.

It comes to the place of the cross, yields up its life, and then a totally new life is opened up to the soul, a life that flows from God through the spirit into the soul.

Yeah

... witness of the Holy Spirit, which I think, you know, even today we still grapple with this.

But she, she was just like, "This is a no-brainer," you know?

Yeah.

So it was easy for her to just sort of go like, "I believe it and I'm gonna champion it, and everybody should do it, but I'm not doing it."

Mm.

And then the story is that in the middle of a preach she felt the Holy Spirit say, "Tell them now." And she's said to the Holy Spirit, basically in her seat, "This isn't a good time." You know, [laughs] "My husband's speaking." You know, like, this isn't the right ...

[laughs]

I had a wonderful time.

I signed off happy, encouraged, and I just, I felt the Holy Spirit.

I felt y'all excited about God's word and then the seven Catholic keys to open our eyes to appreciate.

And I think one of the things that was a big take home last night is, you know, the mass is the liturgy of the word and it's the liturgy of the Eucharist.

In the church, in our wisdom for 2000 years, east and west, the Holy Spirit has designed the liturgy, designed the mass so that hearing the word of God, Old Testament, Psalms, epistle, gospel.

That is the perfect preparation for us to receive the Eucharist.

Right.

And that's not Catholicism.

And we're asking you today to help us to recognize those beliefs and assumptions that have taken root in us that maybe they weren't tested by your truth.

Give us the ability to listen to the Holy Spirit and to challenge those things that need to come down in our lives.

However, I picture it this way, like...

You're given the grace of salvation, and that means the Holy Spirit dwelling within you.

But then you have to allow the Holy Spirit to act in you, which is what the works are.

It's really not us doing things.

It's Christ doing them in us.

the analogy of like gas in a car like or like a pilot light in a furnace that the holy spirit is like the gas or whatever and so i mean that's great it's sitting there it's ready to go but unless you turn on the car and hit the gas pedal like it's the gas to the

Some of these qualities are exclusive to God, but unbelievably, we are able to reflect the character of God in our lives with his help.

Wouldn't it be great to meet someone who had godly qualities? Wouldn't it be even more wonderful to be that person? The Apostle Paul gives us a little more detail in his letter to the church in Galatia, when he tells them, But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

There is no law against these things.

With God's help through His Holy Spirit, we can reflect some of God's love and personality in our world as we live our daily lives.

Even better, we don't have to manufacture them ourselves, because the Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit produces them in us, and all we have to do is cooperate and let people enjoy them with us.

Let's be really practical.

Why not choose one of the nine fruit segments from Galatians 5, verses 22 and 23 each day and ask God to inspire and enable you to reflect it.

He pardoneth and absolveth all them that truly repent and unfeignedly believe his holy gospel.

Wherefore let us beseech him to grant us true repentance and his Holy Spirit, that those things may please him which we do at this present, and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy, so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

O Lord, save thy people and bless thine inheritance.

Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fighteth for us but only thou, O God.

O God, make clean our hearts within us and take not thy Holy Spirit from us.

Keep, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy church with thy perpetual mercy.

And he is one God, right? And so he's triune, of course.

He has Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

But he is completely unified in character, in nature.

And so these type of false teachings that people might want to embrace because an aspect of the faith makes them uncomfortable can lead us into dangerous directions.

And one of the things that he says that's causing the church to be more and more impotent is they have no view of who God is.

They have no view of who...

The Holy Spirit is, because all these things have creeped in.

We have to know the true God and who he is.
