Oh, it was delicious.

It was really a feast, not only for those of us that were there that were Gentiles and Christians, but also for those that were in the land, citizens of the nation Israel.

Unleavened bread, friends, is not as delightful and it's not as palatable, not as tasty as the leavened bread is.

But may I say that the Word of God is the food that's for the child of God.

Equipped by him we can pursue the work God has for us to do.

All the Christian needs to fall in grace can.

Over a half a century ago, the late Dr. Donald Gray Barnhouse, then pastor of 10th Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, saw the need to spread God's Word beyond the hearing of his local congregation.

He started the weekly radio outreach, which has become known as Dr. Barnhouse and the Bible.

These are the marks of personality.

We would define a person as any being who has knowledge, feelings, and will.

The true Christian believes as much as any Jew believes it that Jehovah our God is one God.

Moses proclaims it in Deuteronomy, Here, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah, and thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

In other words, we are looking here at the complement, as it were, to the statement which we consider together last year, Sunday morning there in the 12th verse.

The apostle is setting out here, let us never forget the greatness of this Christian salvation.

He wants us to realize that it's so great that nothing less than the power of God himself could ever have achieved.

That's his whole argument.

The power that makes us Christians is precisely the same power that brought the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and from the grave, showed him in glorious resurrection, and then raised him into the heights in the heavenly places where he is seated at the right hand of God's power.

That's his theme.

That's the thing he's talking about.

There's no greater method conceivable.

You see, our Christian faith has sanctified every occupation.

There isn't any difference between the secular and the sacred.

There isn't any at all.

We're going to be looking at least initially at verses 6 through 15, a very, very interesting little section, in fact, quite unique in the New Testament, dealing with the subject of work.

Work.

In fact, I suppose I could title the message Work, a Christian Duty.

In spite of what most people might think, in spite of what most people might feel, work is one of the most honorable and noble things a Christian can do.

In fact, in the very beginning, God established that man would earn his bread by the sweat of his brow, Genesis 3, 19.

As long as we hear his good voice calling to us above the howling of the wolves, above the sound of branches snapping, above the ominous noises around us, God is always there.

And a Christian believes in the fatherness, the fatherhood of God.

He or she believes that God is always there.

Yes, sometimes he hides his face.

sometimes in the dark, but never at a distance.

And the human heart calls out, how can it be in this forest, in this storm, in this rain, that the Father is there at all? The issue of Newsweek, on the front of the cover, says, spirituality in America, I don't know if you saw this, and it says, As diverse as America itself are the ways that America seeks spiritual enlightenment, talks about Christian immigrants bringing their faiths to our country in the last years.

Talks about a daily website that sends out 8 million emails of spiritual wisdom every day to 5 million subscribers.

Some of that is generic inspiration, the most popular one.

And yet there's a lack of mentoring.

And I thought about even my own story and how Early, early on in my Christian walk, boy, I was really messed up.

I

had a lot of bad ideas.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

You go into that.

Yeah, so I became a Christian at 16, and I had some pretty jacked up ideas.

And I didn't have a strong...

So the question now comes, well, if that's not what I want, how can I get out of this situation? And I would say there's a very simple, basic way to start getting out of it, and it is this.

The two principles of living the Christian life are what the old hymn calls trust and obey.

We are to live the Christian life trusting God to do what he says he will do in our lives, and as a result of that, we live in glad, trusting obedience to him.

Now, trust and obey.

Sometimes we stop trusting.

God's given us one day a week to set apart to praise Him.

One of the sad things today is that so many don't praise Him any day of the week, or that Christians, when they come, give such a little portion of Sunday to God.

David goes beyond that.

David doesn't merely say, I'm going to set aside one day a week to praise God from morning till evening.
