After an exciting Sixers offseason highlighted by the additions of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, join Inquirer beat writers Gina Mizell and Chris Hine for a preview of the season.
Chris HineHostI think this this season is something that neither one of us have ever really quite experienced in our career.
To add to this core of Tyrese Maxey, BJ Edgecombe, Joel Embiid, of course, has been here the longest out of anybody.
And I think we've gotten our first taste of what this is all going to be like over the past week or so.
When media day was last Monday on September 28th, training camp opened right after that.
And then you and I were sitting next to each other at the scrimmage, like watching them, you know, play at not necessarily full speed, but close to full speed and just looking at all these guys on the floor together.
What have been your kind of first impressions just of, what the hubbub surrounding this team is going to be and just what it's going to be like to sort of be in the thick of this all day to day.

I don't think it really, even after spending a week of talking to them and being there at Media Day and seeing everybody in their uniforms for the first time, I don't think it really hit me until Saturday afternoon when they were actually all, that projected starting five was all on the floor together at the same time with the crowd, with Matt Cord, with all of it.

And I think the biggest takeaway I've had maybe from the last week is... and they've been talking about it throughout the rest of the summer too, is that they don't seem to be under any illusions that this is going to be difficult.

But I think they know that there is a pretty big challenge still ahead of them, that the process of gelling and coming together It's not going to be an easy one.

There's going to be stretches of the season where things aren't going to be going well, or they may go through a 10-game stretch where they lose seven of them or what have you.

And I think they're coming into this, I think, clear-eyed, I think is probably the word I would use.

But that doesn't mean it's going to go great, but I think they know that – Just assembling this roster and rolling it out there is not going to be enough.

There has to be a lot of work put in, a lot of thought, and a little bit of sacrifice here and there for guys to make this work ultimately.
Yeah, I think similarly that just understanding, I hate to use the trust the process cliche five minutes into this show, but that they understand, like you said, that this is not going to happen overnight when you're combining four players that all have all NBA accolades set to this point.
