And let's start with our front page story, news from the GTA has the headline, "The Metrolinx report pulls back the curtain on what led to the GO train derailment outside of Union Station." And this is written by Andy Takagi, transportation reporter for The Star.

Inadequate visual inspections and track maintenance contributed to the derailment of a GO train outside of Union Station in February, a new report from Metrolinx has found, an incident that led to widespread delays across the regional network for days.

Visual inspections, the report found, could not reliably determine the remaining holding strength or clamping effectiveness of lag screws.

The track conditions, it added, may also have been missed because Metrolinx changed its track standards in twenty twenty-five but didn't immediately introduce a retrofit of the track to meet those standards.

Toronto Terminal Railways, the private contractor in charge of maintenance around Union Station, may not have consistently assessed the conditions of the tracks according to those new standards, the report found.

The poor condition of the track fasteners progressively developed over time through a combination of infrastructure degradation, historical maintenance practices, and reduced fastening effectiveness under repeated loading conditions, the report concluded.

Inspection blitz found other issues.

Since Mr. Trump's return to office, it has been clear that Canadian retaliation only provokes more reprisals from the White House.

"None of that will matter at the cabinet table," said Andrew MacDougall, an assistant professor of Canadian politics at the University of Toronto.
