Why do Christians have so many different views of the End Times?
Before beginning Matthew 24 and the Olivet Discourse, Glenn and Steve pause the normal verse-by-verse study to provide a big-picture overview of biblical eschatology.
This topical study explains the differences between premillennialism, amillennialism, and postmillennialism, along with preterism and dispensationalism. They discuss why some Christians understand the millennium as a future earthly kingdom while others understand it symbolically, and why interpretation of passages concerning Israel plays such an important role in these different systems.
The discussion also addresses the relationship between Israel and the church, literal versus symbolic interpretation of prophecy, failed attempts to predict the date of Christ’s return, pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, and post-tribulation views, Daniel’s seventieth week, and why Christians should understand prophecy without becoming consumed with trying to match every headline to a Bible verse.
Most importantly, regardless of differences over eschatology, there has always been only one way of salvation: by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
