DawgNation Daily -- the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans Beginning of the show: I discuss a often-spoken phrase from Kirby Smart about the Bulldogs' upcoming opponent being "extremely…
Every week, Kirby Smart does a press conference previewing that upcoming Saturday's game, and you pretty much already know that you're gonna get very little from Smart in most of these press conference situations, and for the big games, you may get even less than that.
Uh, Saturday, uh, with Alabama looming, you probably, as the buildup would suggest, got an example of the latter from Kirby Smart, where, hey, he was very tight-lipped, not releasing any information or any thoughts or any whatever, uh, that we don't have to, because we're gonna do our talking with our helmets, we're gonna prepare in practice, and we're gonna get ready for football coming up on Saturday, and we're gonna do as little talking as we, you know, can get away with.
And so much so that probably while speaking to the media, Kirby kind of leaned into some of the things we hear him say a lot.
And it was in a moment like that yesterday that I found myself wondering, "Okay, well, Kirby always says this.
It's just an easy thing to put out there when it comes to the team you're about to play.
You can say that you were there, that you did what you needed to do." But in the case of Alabama, the team that Georgia's playing on Saturday, is this very common, very familiar statement that Smart is making, is that actually true? Because I think the answer to how true this is is going to go a long way towards determining about what actually happens when these two teams meet on Saturday night.
Whether it rains or not, uh, there's gonna be a football game, and the answer to this question of the truth of Kirby Smart's statement, this is gonna go a long way towards determining who wins this game.
In it, he drops a line that he almost always drops, and today, live on the air here, we're gonna fact-check this.
Yep.
Lot of respect for, uh, Coach DeBoer, uh, the way they go about things.
Got an extremely physical football team.
Um, they're playing really high-level football right now, and, uh, just, you know, got to start watching them yesterday.
I'm super impressed with both sides of the ball and special teams.
Um, quarterback is playing [chuckles] amazing for them.
Um, guy is really talented, uh, fun to watch, and you've seen the, the growth just from the first game all the way through.
Um, the talent this guy has is, uh, uh, pretty incredible, and they got a really good scheme around him.
So, uh, it'll be a great challenge for us to go into a really tough environment, uh, to go play, and, you know, our players will be looking forward to it.
Yes, Alabama has gotten off to, Kirby used the word tremendous, tremendous, uh, start this season.
