College Football Playoff

I don't give a damn about no 1-0 record.

As far as I'm concerned, Michigan 0-1, because I think if they put themselves in a position where the College Football Playoff Committee even had a chance to look at them as a potential playoff team, they're gonna hold that performance against them.

So I definitely think that.

I wanna know, as a former star at Michigan, a Heisman Trophy winner at Michigan-

Mm

... for the College Football Playoff.

And again, I know when you look at what Navy's done over the last, like, year or so, they won their opener against Towson, uh, 42 to 15.

But let's go back to 2025, they have won their last, let's see, five games in a row.

The, what removes the luster a bit for me, and maybe this is kind of the overarching college football take, both of these teams are going to the college football playoff.

Mm.

It would be a dud of a season if neither of these teams, if one of these teams misses the CFP.

It is a little sad that we don't have the feeling 17 years ago that we would have of, "Well, if you lose this game, you're done.

The BCS is not going to honor you." It's a little sad that we don't have that.

Sooners go on to finish the season ten and three.

They make the College Football Playoff for the first time f- under Brent Venables, uh, losing in the first round to Alabama.

This year, arguably hopes for a better team, uh, at least on the field, but the schedule is real tough.

Uh, at Michigan, at Georgia, at Texas, all within the first half of the season.

You know, they played in that Fiesta Bowl, you know, with Trestle and, Todd Beckman started, but like Terrell was a wide receiver and Colt McCoy completed like 90% of his passes, but that was a really good game.

Then they played, of course, in the Cotton Bowl CFP semifinals with Scoop and Sawyer last year's opener.

And now this has been a really good series that started in 2005.

So last 21 years, it's been like almost like a little rivalry here between the Buckeyes and Ohio State going down to Texas and recruiting like they have certainly has helped the cause to ratchet up the rivalry a little bit.

But at the same time, I can see why that kind of hurts perception, because as much as these teams want deep leagues with a lot of competitive bull bids.

Probably at the end of the day, they want a few really good standout teams at the end of the day, so that way they're positioning those teams for a CFP appearance, and that's probably a bit of an issue for the ACC right now.

Super, super top-heavy or a little not top-heavy? Yeah, and if you're trying to be a two-bid league, which is the goal of the ACC, Louisville needed to beat Ole Miss.

And if that didn't happen, which obviously occurred, they've got to be a one-loss team the rest of the way.

Would he guess betting them to make the CFP? I wonder what that number's at for now.

Um, From a coaching standpoint, I have to think, especially if you have a team that has lofty goals, that having a game like Sunday for Ole Miss where you get punched in the mouth a lot, where you make mistakes that could have been and in some cases probably should have been fatal, if you will, but you survive and you win, at the end of the year, it's It's likely, it might even be highly probable that at the end of the year, if Ole Miss is in the CFP conversation, that a neutral site win over Louisville is like one of the big feathers in the cap.

It's probable if you look at Louisville's schedule.

Now, Ole Miss has a lot of work to do.

I see it.

At least my school didn't peak off a win versus OSU, only to never reach a college football playoff ever, just like how Mizzou has zero Final Four appearances in basketball history.

They'll never get there.
