Jalen Milroe

Seahawks already have three quarterbacks on the roster.

I don't expect them to do anything other than run with Drew Lock and have Jalen Milroe as the backup, no matter how you feel about Jalen Milroe as a backup.

They've got him on the roster.

I don't think it's gonna make sense for them to have a fourth quarterback and to waive another player and lose another player just because you don't like Jalen Milroe as a potential backup.

Now, if Drew Lock gets hurt and your only quarterback is Jalen Milroe, then absolutely they would add another quarterback, and that quarterback I think would likely start over Jalen Milroe.

But we're not there yet.

So I, I don't see any reason why they would do that.

And when you look at the backs that Alabama has paired with the defense, 8 times out of 10, I feel like giving the ball off, depending on your read, of course, is the smarter decision.

So the irony here is guess who else had struggle with this? Jalen Milroe.

And, you know, his thing was, "I'm running." At least Keelon's like, "I wanna pass." [laughs] So we, we've got a slight progression in exactly what we want the quarterback to do, not taking hits.

But again, you limit the amount of responsibilities you put on a young quarterback, that's gotta be a hand off.

I get that.

You know, I think you're referring to do we, do we see Jalen Milroe, who they're trying to will into this.

You know, I, I'd be careful.

Uh, we'll see where that goes.

I, I, you know, you don't wanna mess things too mu- too, uh, mess things up too much.

That, that's what I would say.

And Jalen Milroe in the preseason, yeah, he had a, a pretty good preseason game number three, but per- one, preseason game number one was just okay.

Preseason game number two was below okay, and he threw two interceptions, and it wasn't real sharp.

If it's three or more, which sounds more likely to me, then you gotta add somebody who can play football for you if something happens to Drew Lock.

So I'm gonna be honest, Jalen Milroe is not ready to start a game for a Super Bowl contender yet, and it's unclear if he ever will be.

Full disclosure, I've never been a big fan.

Thought it was a wasted draft pick when he was selected in the third round of the 2024 draft.

Uh, I, I might just go with, with Milroe in the, in that situation if that's who I've got on the team.

Um, but at least they could be a third quarterback and be an inactive, uh, person to come in if necessary.

And then there's kind of some what I would call warm body options like, okay, uh, Drew Lock got hurt, um, we need a backup for, for Jalen Milroe.

You know, Jake Browning, Browning, uh, Washington product, you bring him home.

Not expected to sideline him long-term.

Drew Lock should be the starter, so we shall see, against the Arizona Cardinals, and that would mean that Jalen Milroe, who was the, uh, emergency quarterback, QB three, be bumped up to the backup in that situation.

A day after opting to hold Joey Porter Jr. out of the season opening victory against the Falcons, Steelers coach Mike McCarthy, noncommittal on his timeline to return.

As the Porter missed training camp with a back injury he aggravated during a mobility workout on report day, would need more than this week to complete his, quote-unquote, "ramp up period." McCarthy said the plan was to increase his workload beginning on Wednesday's practice.

Seahawks have not brought in any quarterbacks for a tryout.

Jalen Milroe, a 2025 third-round selection, who was usually a healthy scratch during his rookie season, is Seattle's QB3.

Drew Lock came in, stepped up, did a great job.

Darnold will probably miss, uh, expected to miss this week two matchup against the Cardinals.

And what a pro also.

Uh, because, you know, you go from a guy who's young, uh, you know, that, um, Jalen Milroe.

Mm-hmm.

And he was, you know, he was talking about the reps a fair amount.

It was nip and tuck.

They ended up, um, benching Milroe, and it was almost like there was, uh, like a locker room coup at that point on Nick Saban, you know, the greatest coach of all time.

You don't want something like that.

You don't want everybody in the locker room wanting one quarterback to start and then you as the head coach go with somebody else.
