Sure as God's justice, the defiant six bishops, two consecrators, four consecrates, of course, received their latte sententia excommunications this morning within about 24 hours of their act, defying Rome.

Now, people often misunderstand it as being, you know, a penalty that's applied the moment that you took a bad action.

It usually requires some sort of canonical register, like the Pope saying, that's on you, times two and back to you, like we used to say in the 90s.

It's not self-imposed in the sense that a Pope doesn't have to apply it to you.

And he's saying if you want to get out from under the thumb of Rome, if you want to get out from under the cloud of this penalty, excommunication, grievous penalty, then what you have to do is a little bit more if you're an SSPX bishop, a little bit less if you're an SSPX priest, and still quite a bit less if you're an SSPX regular goer.

We'll talk about the technical aspects of this thing when Steph reads the two letters that the Pope sent.

But first, I just want to opine for two minutes about the fact that people are acting surprised.

This is what happens anytime in the history of the church that a group ordains its own bishops and Rome said, don't do it.

They'll say, well, to Joe Fernandez, our current DDF prefect is a pervert and a weirdo.

I told you yesterday, if I'm sitting in the room with Tuchel and Superior General of SSPX, Davide Pagliarani, I want to sit next to Pagliarani, right?
