TYROMANCY: Interview w/ The Cheese Oracle Jennifer Billock

I don't want you to give away all your secrets in the podcast, because you also are about to publish a book on tyromancy.

Is that correct?

Yes.

Yes, it is.

So I have a book coming out with Ten Speed Press.

It'll be out, unfortunately, next year.

[laughs] So-

Okay

...

August 10th, 2027 is the tentative release date at this point.

It's like a little birthday gift to me, 'cause my birthday's August 13th, so.

[laughs] It's doesn't have a whole title yet.

[laughs] The working title is Tyromancy.

That will definitely change, 'cause nobody knows what it means.

[laughs] And it's a really fun project.

So the book is separated into two parts.

The first half is kind of a history of cheese magic, a history of tyromancy, and then the story of how I got into it and how I do my readings.

And then the second part is a 30-cheese breakdown of the history of each cheese, and then if you're using that cheese for a single cheese reading, what it represents and how you can use it.

Well, I think cheese itself may lend itself to magic because it's a special food, if you will.

Like, how did they even figure it out in the first place? You know what I mean? Like, some milk probably had-

Yeah

... to go bad, and so so- a shaman, essen- That's what shamans do.

They put stuff in their mouth, and if they don't die-

[laughs]
