RE3: Rethink Renew Reconstruct
May 22, 2026 · 1 hr 34 min · 10 segments
Water baptism has taken on new meanings according to revival culture. No longer simply the first step for a Christian, now it can be used for many things - like exorcism, new levels & even healing…
You may have seen on social media over the past couple of years videos of mass water baptisms on campuses, at lakes, and everywhere in between.
And while we might want to celebrate that and say, "Wow, look how many people are coming to the kingdom," we need to hold up.
Because when you look a little closer, there's a whole framework of teaching developed underneath of this that has Christians being baptized over and over and over again for all kinds of things, from deliverance from demons for some reason, to restoration in your marriage, to going up a new level.
For 2,000 years, Christians were baptized once, and now we're being encouraged to be wet all the time.
We're going to be talking about that on this episode of the podcast, so stick with me.
I'm the pastor at East Market Church in Akron, Ohio, and this is RE3, trying to get people to rethink their opinions and beliefs and renew our mind in Christ so that we can reconstruct faith that, in many cases, in the hyper-charismatic movement, has just fallen apart because what we're practicing and teaching just doesn't seem to add up.
