Hebrews

My story overlaps with something bigger than me," and that's a big deal.

One of the best examples of this is an early story in the Bible, uh, where the Hebrews are enslaved in Egypt.

Lord rescues them, as you will know, by splitting the Red Sea.

Moses takes them through.

And so that's what the story is ultimately about.

And of course, we said that comes right from the book of Hebrews, where that's straight up right what the text says is that Be careful to show strangers hospitalities because if you don't, you could be entertaining angels unawares.

It's the same exact same thing because we say in this community that, yes, these gods from these other religions were likely angels.

And so it doesn't have to be Zeus.

Polygamy became common among many people besides the Jews, as we shall have occasion to mention hereafter, but it was condemned both by the law in the New Testament and the policy of all prudent states, especially in northern countries.

The Hebrews in modern times have been monogamists, but the Sicilian Jews early in the last century practiced polygamy, and by reason of that and of their early marriages, they rapidly increased.

In Leviticus eighteen will be found a table of the prohibited degrees of consanguinity or relationship within which it was declared none should marry.

There is no restriction in the Bible as to the age when marriage might lawfully be entered into, but early matrimony is in several places mentioned with approval.

The Jews fixed certain days for the respective ceremonies of betrothal and marriage.

Thus the fourth day was appointed for virgins and the fifth for widows.

Similarly, the more modern Hebrews fix Wednesday and Friday for the former, and Thursday for the latter.

In the present century, Wednesday is generally the day on which the Jews, spinsters, and bachelors celebrate their marriages, and on the following day a ball concludes the affair.

They didn't get me.

And they never got the Hebrews.

The Hebrews carried the message to the whole world.

The realization of the danger.

The two men on the bus, I think they understood, had escaped like I did.

They, in the document, affirm that Christ is the only path to salvation.

The document affirms that the religion of the Hebrews in the Old Testament is different than it is today.

And then it goes on to say that God's covenant is eternal, and the original covenants, the Old Testament covenant, is eternal.

And as such, you don't need to spread the gospel to our so-called elder brothers in the faith.

It's published in 1943.

By the death of the Redeemer, quoting Pius XII, the New Testament took the place of the old law which had been abolished.

The Church, not the post-Christ, you know, post-incarnation, post-passion, post-resurrection religion of the Hebrews, is the versus, verus Israel.

The Church is the new Israel.

So John 7, 16, his doctrine is not his own, it's his father's.

So he's, he is the Hebrews one, three, he is the express image of the father.

So like he is the copy paste who lets you know, like, here's you want to interact with the father on the earth.

Boom.

That would be against the Torah also.

Right.

So we understand there's an application, a metaphoric description of discipleship and how we engage with God versus the literal application of things, you know, like just like Hebrews 8, 4 talks about Jesus.

Um, if you're on the earth, he would not be a priest because that office is already given to, to others who officiate, which is the Levites.

In those days when the number of the disciples was multiplied...

there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

These people had been converted.

They were saved.

They'd become Christians.

Yes, but they hadn't learned this lesson.

Grecians, Hebrews, it isn't fair, they said.

They were dividing up in terms of nationality.

It's in the sixth verse.

This is one of the Hebrews' children." "But why are they called Hebrews?" questioned Celia.

"Why am I called Sarah? You might as well ask that question." Miss Parkhurst shook her head.

"There is some special reason why they are called Hebrews, I think, though as I said, I don't remember what it is.

Being convinced that the gracious design of the Almighty in sending his Son into the world was to repair the breach made by disobedience, to finish sin and transgression, that his kingdom might come and his will be done on earth as it is in heaven, we have found it to be our duty to cease from those national contests which are productive of misery and bloodshed, and submit our cause to him, the Most High, whose tender love to his children exceeds the most warm affections of natural parents, and who hath promised to his seed throughout the earth as to one individual, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.

Hebrews 13, 5.

And we, through the gracious dealings of the Lord our God, have had experience of that work which is carried on, not by earthly might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Zechariah 4, 6.
