Elisha

And they said to God, "Please answer me." So there we do see prayer, um, directly.

Then we continue with his, um, his, his colleague, um, Elisha BeJericho, praying for water.

He should be answered.

Mi She'ana Al Yonah B'mei HaDeGAh.

Open your Bible to 2 Kings chapter 4.

The days of Elisha, hard days in Israel, days of famine and idolatry under the shadow of Ahab's house.

And into the prophet's path comes a cry.

Verse 1, a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha saying, Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, and the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.

Friend, feel the weight of that verse.

Here is a woman who has buried her husband.

And notice, he was not a prodigal or a scoundrel.

He was one of the sons of the prophets, the seminary students of that day, the men who gathered around Elisha to be trained in the word of the Lord.

So Elijah had to pray for the widow's son three times before he raised from the dead.

Elisha, raising the Shunammite son from the dead.

It says in 2 Kings 4, verse 35, that he returned and walked back and forth in the house and again went up and stretched himself out on him.

And this is somebody who had a double portion of what Elijah had.

It grabs a hold of us and says, that's who you are.

Now, when we see in the Bible, we see like Elijah and Elisha, right? So with Elijah and Elisha, Elijah was the prophet of God.

And God tells Elijah at one time, go and find the person who's going to basically take your place.

And so he goes and he finds Elisha and goes and says, okay, come and follow me.

And Elisha does.

He just burns everything, literally burns everything to the ground, basically, in some ways, and just goes and follows him.

He says, okay, I'm with you.

But I believe it was about 30 years that he followed it and was mentored by him and taught by him.

The sons of Goma were Ashkenaz, Diphath, and Togamor.

The sons of Javan were Elisha, Tashisha, Kittim, and Rodanim.

The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

The sons of Cush were Saba, Avila, Sapta, Rama, and Sapteca.

And Jehu begot Azariah.

Azariah begot Helez.

And Helez begot Elisha.

Elisha begot Shishmai.

Amen.

I'm Elisha.

I'm all of the people that ever believed Yahweh.

Hallelujah.

Are you with me? So now he comes to this, I, even I, only am left to seek my life.

And the Lord tells him now in verses 15 to 17, he gives him a commission to do three things, to go and anoint the king of Syria, to anoint Jehu to be king over Israel, and to anoint Elisha to be the son, to be the prophet in thy room, he calls him.

So that was the successor.

But he drops down to this in verse 18.

Yeah, so apparently they got a lot of flack because they were going out to graves to where they believed former righteous prophets of the modern Christian era were buried so they could suck up the energies coming off those graves and be better at their connection with the Lord and their prophesying.

So right away, you just can imagine they're pulling from the text where Elisha is buried and they go, it's the guy touches the bones and comes back to life.

And you can just see where people know the scripture and just

mangle it.

And so, you know, we have several examples of this in the Word.

You know, Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Jesus and the disciples, Paul and Timothy.
