We are here to talk about national college football from a Big Ten perspective.
And today we are doing our very own Bill Landis Big Ten versus SEC challenge.
yeah yeah yeah i guess it's the next best thing we could have put them all in a video game and did it that way i suppose and simulated it maybe we can do that after we're done doing this exercise to see what the results say but uh yeah this will be fun um i'm i'm i'm interested to see where we end up with some of these matchups because you know you can just do the homer thing and pick all the big 10 teams or we can uh try to be a little more honest about it and see where we end up so i'm excited to see what happens
I played out the fake big 10 sec challenge on my Sega Genesis or whatever I did.
I remember like lying on the floor at three o'clock in the morning as the games played out being like, ah, I got to write Minnesota, Mississippi state for the morning.
And I think I sent the results to a Jim Delaney and Mike's live and they didn't care.
They understand that the podcast of Northern Aggression is going to occupy a huge place in college football media.
And I did get a cease and desist letter from Greg Sankey and Paul Feinbaum saying that Ohio State and Oregon are should be removed from this if it's 16 versus 16.
They don't think it's fair to remove Purdue and Rutgers, but I told them to cram it,
Speaking of season desist, you know what seed you had LSU in this one for the SEC?
I said, speaking of season desist, you know what seed you had LSU at for this one?
Do you think, Matt, that we could ever see a version of this? We're going to talk this out.
The three of us are going to pick who would win these matchups and we're going to come to a final conclusion.
Would you like to see this someday on the field in some form? Do you think we could see this on the field someday in some form?
I have a hard time seeing it happening in this current construction of college football.
Now, I don't know how much longer we'll have this current construction of college football when the TV contracts are up and yada, yada, yada five years from now.
You know, I think we all envision at least the possibility of a quote unquote super league.
That would be primarily dominated by the Big Ten and the SEC, and in that case, we would be getting this every year, I'd imagine, or some version of this.
But as far as the way things are right now, I have a hard time seeing 16-plus teams on each side going out of their way to make this happen, essentially cutting out Notre Dame, cutting out some of the weaker non-conference opponents that both sides love to play these days with nine-game conference schedules.
