Two things are clear as August nears: The Cubs are contenders but they need more pitching. What will they do at the trade deadline?

And you want to give... anyone a little bit of grace knowing that it's their first time coming back in a month um but man it was a lot of the same of what we've seen from Jamison Ty on this year and I know some people will say well look at what happened after the first inning but you know the first inning still counts he was tagged for four runs gave up two long balls in that first inning I mean I was looking at some of his numbers and I'm not talking the the analytical numbers because if the Cubs want to sit here and try to say oh well look you know this pitch shape or this specific thing that he's doing that we think is going to get better but I just – I can't buy it anymore with Jamison Tyon.
And when I look at one of his base numbers, Jason, 72 innings pitched this year, he's allowed 22 homers.
It's just – We've talked about, or you have in depth on some earlier podcast episodes dating back a couple of months this year, some of his velocity and how it's dipped off and how this isn't just a last year to this year thing.
How this is dating back a few years and how that fastball's kind of dipped in velocity.
And I know the big question will be, well, who else do the Cubs have out there that they could replace Tyon with? I'd rather have Javier Assad.
Um, it's not, you know, a sexy option per se, but you kind of know what you're getting with Javier Assad.
He came in, uh, in that 10th inning after Trent Thornton took a line drive off the foot and exited stage, right.
And other clubs pitching injury and Assad, uh, Got back to back to background balls.
It just so happened that one was hit to Dansby in the hole and he couldn't make the play at second.
The Nico Horner had a uncharacteristic error and the other one was one that wasn't a rocket, but it was just a grounder right up the middle that had eyes on it.
So that's just an option for those who are saying, OK, well, you don't like Tyon.

yeah uh we're we're just kind of at a point now where we're it feels like we're circling the drain with him um where If you were hoping that he was going to come back and something was going to be different, nothing appeared to be different last night.
It was when you go into the baseball savant page, he had six strikeouts, but he only had eight whiffs.
