Freddy Peralta

You know who else is pitching really well? Clay Holmes.

You know who else is pitching r- r- really well? Freddy Peralta.

And if that was happening for the Mets earlier this season, where would they have been? If Brett Beatty didn't turn into a shell of himself and, uh, X, Y, and Z, who else? Bo Bichette didn't underperform, which I guess can get into roster construction.

The Mets would be in a different place.

I, I just wanna touch on something that, that Murph touched on there, the fact that this pitching staff, and Craig and I just kinda diagnosed what they're gonna try to do when they get to the postseason with the staff and the, the arms that they have.

But yeah, just to reiterate, you take three pieces, three starting pieces from the staff from last year in 2025, which also won a division title, and three guys that were key in doing that, Woody, Quinn Priester, who had just a career year, came out of nowhere to surprise everybody, and of course Freddy Peralta, who anchored that staff.

Well, Peralta gets dealt in the off-season.

We all knew that was coming.

Um, you know, they traded Corbin Burnes when he had one year to go.

They traded Freddy Peralta when he had a year to go.

They traded Josh Hader when he had a year and a half to go.

You can go back.

Early rounds too.

I'll tell you, like guy I hadn't been drafting all year long was Freddy Peralta.

I get to the main event, and all of a sudden I have this panic.

All along I'm planning on taking Aroldis Chapman there.

Mm-hmm.

And you're gonna take Chapman.

My team would've been so much better had I taken Chapman there instead of Freddy Peralta.

Would've...

Kudos to the Rays, and the front office has been great.

And every new addition, I mean, I just want to give it to Freddy Peralta as well because, I mean, he's really turned it around in his last three starts.

I mean, insane.

I mean, he's going to get himself a new – he's winning himself millions and millions of dollars.

Well...

They traded for the NL wins leader from last year in an All-Star, Freddy Peralta.

It didn't work out, but they added Freddy Peralta.

And they brought in a bunch of bullpen guys that, you know, Weaver ended up having just a remarkable season.

And...

It just didn't work out for whatever reason.

And I still don't know the reason.

I don't know what the reason is that Freddy Peralta struggled in New York, but I don't think it has anything to do with New York.

That's really been the crux of last year in the second half and also this year was the pitching.

Now, like I said to a caller earlier, David Stearns did a lot to improve the pitching or at least attempt to improve the pitching by trading for Freddy Peralta.

It just didn't work out.

Freddie didn't pan out here.

And three guys that were key in doing that, Woody, Quinn Priester, who had just a career year, came out of nowhere to surprise everybody.

And of course, Freddy Peralta, who anchored that staff.

Well, Peralta gets dealt in the off season.

We all knew that was coming.

I mean, it doesn't get easier tomorrow with Nick Martinez.

Didn't they just pick up Freddy Peralta, too, I believe? Jesus.

They're loaded right now.

Is McClanahan healthy-ish? My vote is for Rizzo.
