And so getting drafted by the Chicago Cubs was a dream come true.

But I got injured and I had to retire.

And it was devastating.

And so getting drafted by the Chicago Cubs was a dream come true.

But I got injured and I had to retire and it was devastating.

Thrilled for that, but slightly nervous because the last time I was headed to a Bark at the Park game, and I'm sure I discussed this on the podcast.

That was when I was visiting my friend in Phoenix, and we were going to a Diamondbacks game, coincidentally playing the Cubs, so another

Chicago team on the road.

That was a Bark at the Park night, and I ended up not making it to that game because a tire blew out while we were driving, and the short notes version is she had a bunch of people come look at it.

Whatever, we missed a game where there was a grand slam, multiple plays at the plate.

Obviously, the dogs barking.

Cubs ended up losing, but it was a walk-off in the bottom of the 10th, I think.

So, you know, just probably the best game I would have seen live, plus a bunch of dogs.

It's a strike.

Pittsburgh and the Cubs underway.

No score at the end of one.

Veal and Kuntz.

Washington leading 3-2.

Pittsburgh got another.

They lead the Cubs 2-0.

Don Guilford, who struck out in the first inning, is going to lead off.

In the National League, the Cubs beat the Mets 3-1 in the first game.

The Mets are leading 2-1 in the third inning of the night cap.

In the National League, the Cubs beat the Mets 3-1 in the first game.

The Mets lead 2-1 at the end of 2.5 in the second.

A victory that enabled the Dodgers to maintain their one-half game league in the National League pennant race.

In the only day game played in the National League this afternoon, Cal Kuntz, the rookie right-hander of the Chicago Cubs, pitched a one-hit shutout.

This youngster was signed only last summer by the Chicago Cubs, was dispatched to Class B baseball to Wenatchee, and shortly after joining the Wenatchee club, pitched a one-hitter.

Now in this, only his second year of professional baseball, 21-year-old right-hander from Fayetteville, North Carolina, has hurled a one-hit shutout, and he knocked off One of the classiest pitchers in baseball this year in the knuckleballing right-hander of the Cincinnati Reds, Bob Perkey.

Quite a feat for young Cal Koontz, a 21-year-old right-hander.

Under the ball, second baseman Burr right, and in shallow right center, he has it for the out.

One away and nobody on.

Cal Coons, who pitched the one-hitter today for the Chicago Cubs, is only 21 years old.

The Giants, as we mentioned today, are playing Montreal, but for the Reds it's a different story.

They are playing the Eastern Division leaders, a Chicago Cubs.

Three game series and a completion of a suspended game with Chicago leading in that one.

On the mound, Jim Bunning getting set with his warm-ups now to catcher Jeff Torborg.
