The Cubs lost this afternoon to the Dodgers by a score of 4-1, which dropped them a half game back.

So it is the Giants and the Cardinals.

And a first-place tie with the Cubs a half game back.

Cincinnati playing there.

One game in.

The Dodgers defeated Chicago 4-1.

The Cubs have been red hot.

In the National League, the Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds 2-1.

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1.

And the Houston Code 45s beat the Giants 6-5.

Base run is going as a swing and a foul ball.

There's the first pitch to Thomas.

Strike one called.

And any combination of Dodger victories and San Francisco losses that total up 2-4 will automatically trench the pennant for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In the American League, the magic number is two for the Yankees.

Saturday afternoon and a doubleheader next Sunday.

And, of course, next Saturday afternoon will be the annual Old Timers Day, starring many of the great New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, and New York Yankees stars of bygone times.

I don't think the fourth game mattered at that point for anything with the Cubs, right? At this point, once you got two games, I think it's what we've talked about.

It's like, how do you stay ahead of the Dodgers? And by the way, the Dodgers don't care.

The Dodgers will come to American Family Field like they did last year and win two games.

They don't care.

But you can't tell me it's not an advantage.

And by the way, they went to Toronto and won game seven of the World Series.

So don't tell me the Dodgers care, but don't tell me the Brewers wouldn't rather have a game seven against the Dodgers at home.
