How much pressure are the Padres feeling after a rough 7-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers? Darren Smith and Marty Caswell discuss Michael King's rough outing, the silent offense and the Padres…
Joe McCormickHost
Robert LambHostThat is Marty Caswell, who is responding today from Los Angeles, where she has been.
As the Padres get set, they will play a second game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who we do believe We'll actually have a starting pitcher in this game, but a huge step backwards.
I don't have a lot to offer here today, so Marty's just going to tell you what the experience was like.
For those of you that are in San Diego or elsewhere who didn't make the trip, we were all optimistic on Tuesday.
The Padres showed absolutely nothing, not offensively, pitching, and the thing that was magnified from yesterday's game, Darren, was their inability to stack up against a Dodgers bullpen game.
Like, if you're the Padres, maybe you'd rather go ahead and face Yoshinobu Yamamoto or Blake Snell, who pitched this weekend, right? Maybe you want to go ahead and face these guys because, man, they have no answers against a Dodgers bullpen game.
And I'm sure that some of those players on the team, fans who are watching Darren from wherever, some of the quiet fans who were in attendance at Dodgers Stadium were having flashbacks to what happened in 2024 in the NLDS.
That might have been an unintended consequence of the game, but even thinking about it afterwards, Marty, like you said, the Dodgers threw eight bullpen arms out there during this game to cover the nine innings where the Padres had five hits, I think it is.
