Rōki Sasaki

The Dodgers have not announced yet who's going to pitch.

There was a lot of speculation about Roki Sasaki, what he threw a really lengthy bullpen today.

So I can't imagine he's pitching tomorrow for the Dodgers.

But if you're the Reds, you feel pretty good about that.

farther apart score-wise either way, but there happened to be a tight situation and a big situation against one of the game's best hitters, and he did a good job.

You mentioned the other day that Roki Sasaki and his transformation last year on the fly to bullpen guy.

You know, is like one possible way that it could go for a guy like Edward.

And you said that resonated with him.

He's a shoo-in now.

uh trent thornton who's pitched pretty good for us uh he's been placed on the 15 day il with left ankle soreness and um edward cabrera has rejoined the team now he's been with the team for saturday sunday and monday but hasn't pitched yet he's going to be pitching out of the pen and uh Council is optimistic that he can be a big help out of the pen, kind of like Roki Sasaki, and that's who Council brought up, or was that Jed, one of them brought up, you know, Sasaki was injured and finished out the year on the roster, and then... come to playoffs he was very good for the dodgers last year so um cabrera he's got the stuff and it just hasn't worked out this year um even before he got injured he was having severe control problems uh both in the strike zone and out of the strike zone um so if if you can't control the ball in the strike zone and it leaks over the middle of the plate that's just as bad as not controlling your pitches out of the strike zone and he couldn't do either one.

So, but I'm kind of on this, bruise control thing.

Just hoping that we, you know, I think we need six more wins.

They can go home on a high note.

Now the Dodgers are hopefully going to get back Roki Sasaki sooner rather than later.

And it looks like a positive step for Roki today.

Yeah, he was able to take part in a live bullpen.

You heard from Kirsten there, Roki Sasaki threw a sim game with the blister on his throwing hand that is now apparently healed and feeling better, but he's still putting some stuff on the finger to help him out.

Oh, also, Roki Sasaki, who we're counting on in the bullpen, still wearing a bandage over that blister, so that is not good either.

Is there an update on Mr. Blister, 2026, Dave?

Yeah, Rokey Sasaki, who's had a pretty significant blister on his right middle finger, his pitching arm.

through four simulated innings today, and it didn't seem like he had a Band-Aid over it covering the blister.

Dave Roberts said a couple of days ago he's throwing with Dermabond over that area that had the blister, so obviously it was good enough for him to keep going and keeping that arm moving.

So that's encouraging because it's not about the regular season and him eating innings.

It's about Rokey Sasaki being, you know, the guy at the back end of the bullpen getting the final three outs, six outs, maybe seven outs.

Speaking of the bullpen, Dave, and getting those last outs, started wobbly for Tanner Scott, was able to get out of it, strike out, followed by getting out of the inning.

He talked to you and thereby us yesterday during your interview when he said, I don't like you, Dave.

... appropriately, accordingly into a role that, uh, w- based on where they s- find themselves in the overall organizational pecking order, they might just all of a sudden turn into a high-leverage reliever.

You know who did that last year? The Dodgers did it with Roki Sasaki.

Right, yeah.

Roki Sasaki was terrible as a starting pitcher.

He spent time on the injured list.

It just, it didn't work out for him.

It seems like a fresh arm.

Originally, it was supposed to be Roki Sasaki coming off the IL, but now Roki Sasaki is going to throw another simulated game on Wednesday.

So now the Dodgers are doing a bullpen game on Thursday, which could have been Emmett Sheehan's turn in the rotation.

It's really strange what's going on there.
