So Pike, who got hit harder today, the Calgary Flames or Keegan Kolasar, courtesy the fists of Tyrel Bauer?

I mean, I don't think anyone is surprised that scoring goals was going to be a problem for this team, but for a group that really prides itself on or talks about priding themselves on playing with structure, never counting themselves out of a fight, just grinding to the last minute, and building from goal tending out, it's just, it's not it.

I think Saturday night is what you wanna see from a rebuilding team, where it's like you take away an empty netter, take away a controversial one, 2-1 loss.

Yeah, I mean, against Vancouver it was 40 pretty good minutes where they were scrappy playing against the Vancouver team they, they just don't like.

And yeah, the, the, I think the, that goal that, uh, got in through Devon Cooley's glove, uh, deflated them and then they never really got their feet back under them.

But 40 minutes of real good hockey is a, a step in the right direction compared to how they began the season on Thursday.

Uh, and I know like the schedule's no one's friend, and let's just call a spade a spade here.

The Flames are playing their third game, or their third game in four nights in three different cities, but so is Seattle.

Uh, this was a S- Seattle team that had the same types of schedule handicaps the Flames did, same amount of travel.

[laughs] And so this was a game where, you know, it was the team that figured out what they were doing and imposed themselves in the game more quickly would win, and, uh, by what, seven minutes and 40 seconds into the first period, the Flames had given up three goals on six shots and the game was over.

I guess time will tell if Seattle is just going to be the team that has their number.

But starting this season, like when you looked at the rosters on paper, I don't think anyone really thought that Seattle was going to be markedly better.

Like instead, the conversation that I'm having with people midway through the third period is, "Do you think Jordan Eberle is gonna hit 1,000 career points?"
