Not a great assessment as Canada sells itself to international investors.

If we don't have functional cities that have good linkages to the trade corridor, we won't be successful.

Now, as it stands, more than three-quarters of this country's economic output is tied to urban environments, with Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary accounting for nearly half of Canada's GDP, which is why the FCM and the business groups with whom we spoke say it's important to make sure cities are working so they can be ready for any influx of investment.

At her uncle's urging, Redder pulled the team together specifically because the official conclusion that two of the most experienced bushmen in the region had simply gotten lost struck nearly everyone in Northern Saskatchewan's Indigenous communities as unfathomable.

It was only in the years immediately before the book's publication that Redder and Nest began digging in earnest, returning to the archival record to pin down exactly where the two men had camped and where they might have ended up.

The research took them to La Ronge, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, and Lower Foster Lake itself, and eventually to the Glenbow Archives in Calgary, where Brady's papers had been preserved since his death.

Redder has said that the team had access to substantial archival material through the Gabriel Dumont Institute and Glenbow, but just as valuable were the people in their 80s and 90s who remembered the disappearance as if it had happened yesterday, roughly six of whom passed along their own notes and journals from earlier informal investigations into the case.
