This week's episode starts with the news and ends with the joy of hovering in a Gravity jet suit. Listen to hear what Bill has to share. Hosts: Bill Sikkens, Bill Snodgrass, and Gretchen Winkler
week All right, Sony denies rumors of cyber attacks against PlayStation Network.
Yeah, so we've been getting a lot of questions on this, so I looked into it a little bit to see what was possibly going on, because there hasn't been exactly like a news article or anybody carrying this.
And it seems like people are still venting, being upset about the decision to do away with physical media.
Now, according to anything I could find from Sony, they didn't directly return a call for a comment, but from what I was able to find... through other sources, it looks like they're saying that, no, nothing has happened.
However, this is a very fast-moving story, and there certainly have been threats out there.
Now, Sony has had problems with PlayStation Network attacks in the past, the most infamous one being in 2011, where they were down for something like three months.
And then, from my understanding, didn't really refund anybody their monthly fees.
Probably, yeah, and that probably leads into a little bit of the reason why there's certainly a trust issue, it seems like, with this and the eliminating physical media thing.
So I have a feeling that we're going to see more things like that happen as things get closer to this.
The status of that right now, by the way, is Sony's still saying that they're going to eliminate physical media in January of 2028.
And, you know, so it's not like it's going to do away with that, just new stuff.
And it's from the comments we're getting, it seems like most people really feel like this is a bad move.
It's not so much the idea that people don't want to have the ability to do digital downloads, but they would like to have the choice.
