Renaissance fair

which is about 10 miles from where we live, which is an odd aside.

Anyway, so much of what we've done together on top of raising kids, you know, we were Renaissance Festival performers together for years.

We've, you know, we've shared interests in shooting and camping.

We were in the music business in Colorado for almost 30 years together as a parallel career.

We had this little tiny community and our little community of three quickly grew to five.

And I won't tell all the machinations of it, but at the end of my second full year there, There's this celebration they do every year called the Ren Fair, the Renaissance Fair.

And this hyper-liberal school, it's one of the most challenging schools in America.

Every senior has to write a dissertation even though it's an underclass, even though it's not a graduate school.

And so they do this Renaissance Fair.

At the end of the Renaissance Fair, everybody throws their dissertation into the library and this whole thing.

But for the long weekend of the Renaissance Fair, this is back, this is 25 years ago.

they do a weekend of unrestrained human experimentation.

Remember that guy playing the lute recently that was following us around? The guy that

followed us the entire Ren Faire playing the lute 10 paces away? Making

hard eye contact the entire time?

Do I remember? That's this.

Where the real action is, if you want to know.

It's not at the Ren Faire.

It's at the campsite after the Ren Faire.

I've been cutting back on socials other than Discord.

I thought he was going to say, right now I'm at Renfair.

Which, I don't know, because I don't know if I'd be open to nominating things, but I think I would be open to, like, whenever the finals list comes out, maybe we could, like, do, like, kind of what we did for the Ohio RenFest.

RenFest what? I'd be

throwing, like, the Ohio thing in there.

Well, I don't even know what to nominate, you know, because, like, it seems like it does have to be, like, the books at least have to, do have to be, like, books that come out within the year, and we don't really allow that new work.

Okay, Jeff, the question I got...

I was at the Renaissance Festival, and a guy recognized me, and he goes, oh, yeah, you're the guy that does that meat talk.

I said, it's called Meat House, thank you.

He said, yeah, what do you do with the yeast when you're done fermenting? Legit question.

I don't know if your flavor is your first goal at this point.

No.

And this is generally the couple of people I've talked to about meads at the Renaissance Festival that were interested in making mead.

And, oh, I made this one mead that was so alcoholic.

And then come the summer, people started hiring me for outdoor festivals.

I mean, you know, in California, I'd seen things like the Renaissance Fair, and I knew that, in theory, you could be a court jester or something, or a clown or something.

So that's the initial arc that got me from being a kind of dropped out, don't know what I'm doing, to I'm going to be a performer.

And it all happened in about three or four years, I guess.
