Star Trek, Doomsday Machine, where Kirk has to convince the computer to not tell the machine to devour planets for its energy consumption.

And this thing by mistake thinks That Kirk is the incarnation of some dude named Fitzkirk or Flykirk.

You have to correct me if I'm wrong.

wow.

And you hinted at it earlier with the Star Trek episode, right? Yeah.

So that concept came from somewhere.

The EMH doctor, as Drew said.

From 164 episodes of Star Trek Voyager, 62 episodes of China Beach.

He was the cowboy in Interspace.

Mentioned on our little mini episode, was it Miss Muggle Bottoms or whatever, from Legend? Wagon's East, Motorama, which I can't believe we haven't talked on the podcast yet.

Obviously, like any young Christian man, The Lord of the Rings, I mean, it came sort of at the end of when art could still impact me at that level, but was incredibly impactful.

But it really was, you know, things like Star Trek, the original series and the original cast, those stories that were about America in space, where it was still okay.

You know, by the time you got to the next generation, and I love the next generation as much as the next guy, by the time you got to the next generation, it was sort of like, end-of-history Democrats in space.

But the original series really is like, it's John Wayne as a Navy officer out at the far reaches of the British Empire.

If you count pre-production, that means that you're in country overseas for something approaching six months.

You go through all the weather changes.

We had our hair and makeup lead, Jeff Dawn, who actually did hair and makeup on Star Trek III, The Search for Spock, and Star Trek IV, The Voyage Home, and comes from an enormous pedigree of unbelievable people.

makeup artists going all the way back to The Wizard of Oz, the best film ever made, by the way.

You must try to embrace new ideas.

This is how the Star Trek saga begins.

Welcome to Trek, Marry, Kill, a Star Trek podcast where we talk about how much we want to Trek, marry, or kill episodes of our favorite show, depending on how good it is, of course.

This time we're talking about the last Star Trek show of the Rick Berman era, Star Trek Enterprise, originally just called Enterprise.

One of those is a rerun.

It's an episode that's already been recorded and it's about the first season of the original series because all season long here on Trek Mary Kill, we are tracking the 60th anniversary of Star Trek.

So over the years, we've recorded some season one episodes and I just thought we should rerun them along with just to keep the flow going.

Last week we had a new one.

Next week we'll have a new one.

But we're also tracking the 25th anniversary of Star Trek Enterprise.

So we'll be doing episodes of that, too.

That'll be new in the feed as well, along with this.

There are a lot of Hal Jordan fans that don't like the fact that Hal is being played as this jerk.

It's so odd because, again, as we all know, I have my peccadillos when it comes to Star Trek and when they change things.

But I really have no problem with any of this.

I don't think he's a jerk.

And I, I think I wrote you guys a letter where Hawkeye, not only once, but twice on mash, he did something to a Colonel or whatever, because the guy was sending troops to the front and getting people killed.

So Hawkeye did something to his drink, give him like an appendix.

So he couldn't, you know, go out to fight and the same thing, the doctor, but I'll tell you what, after all four years, of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, watching Mbenga, he's my favorite character out of all these people on the show, because at least they had some substance to the guy, because he was this murderer guy.

But he's almost too much.

The way I thought about it was there's all this turmoil in the world.

If you're a Star Trek fan, Gene Roddenberry, his vision of Star Trek was a world where humanity matured out of its infancy.

You know, in a world where we can have peace and food for everybody and all this type of stuff.

We have the ability to do that in this world now, but we don't.
