Mike SlaterHostWho was this man that was your husband? When did they start saying that he was your brother? Why?
It started with the Somali blog that, I don't know if it still exists, but somebody put in there that, you know, that he had to have been my brother or something to that effect.
And right-wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it, and they just kind of went and, like, found random people who were like, she introduced us, you know, she introduced him to us and said he was her brother, which is... you know insane i mean i don't i don't know those people that they talk about he was not you were not related to him at all not that there's not like there's not some
weird kernel of truth that through some game not to
my knowledge

This clip of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is getting a lot of attention tonight, but many of the people sharing it are misstating what she was asked.

When she said not to my knowledge, she was not answering whether she had married her brother.

Chris Hayes had already asked about the brother claim and she was calling it insane and a right-wing conspiracy that was initially started by a Somali blog.

Not to my knowledge was her answer to his follow-up whether she was related to the man in any way.

People are welcome to criticize her for that, but they should at least get the question she was asked right.

Okay, so the claim is, because I heard this guy wrote, oh, I want to make sure I didn't misunderstand Chris Hayes' follow-up, and she wasn't responding to something else.
