But Nebraska remains deeply conservative, and any perception that Osborne disrespects Trump voters could erode the crossover appeal he needs to win.

The Cook Political Report still rates the race as likely Republican, but the leak has added new uncertainty, potentially hardening partisan lines and making it harder for Osborne to persuade skeptical conservatives that he is a genuine champion of working-class Nebraskans.

So Republican Senator Deb Fischer spoke at the Air, Space and Cyber Conference this week, and she is a big supporter and proponent for Golden Dome.

She is a supporter of the $1.5 trillion defense budget, which is facing a huge pushback in Congress due to many reasons, whether it's the war in Iran or, um, you know, how massive it is and that it will force cuts to popular domestic programs, et cetera.

So here's this program, the Golden Dome, uh, the defense shield that's supposed to protect the entire country from ballistic and hypersonic attacks, and the Trump administration claimed that it would cost $175 billion.

Um, there's very little information about the system, but independent analysis based on what's been laid out in the executive order say that there's no way this program will cost $175 billion, for a number of reasons.

But going back to Deb Fischer, and she did acknowledge that there needs to be a lot more support for Golden Dome.

That is in part because lawmakers still do not have any meaningful information about the system, and, um, the way she talked about it, I think kinda gives us an i- gives us an idea that lawmakers really know very little about the program of this massive scale that, if pursued, will have very serious national security implications.
