ep #228 Gotham Currents: Absolute Batman #22 & Detective Comics #1111

So our first book tonight is Absolute Batman number 22.

Your writer is Scott Snyder.

Artist, Werther Del Adera.

Colorist, Frank Martin.

Letterer, Tom Napolitano.

Your cover is Nick Turgada, Frank Martin.

And your editor, Andrew Marino.

And...

We get a cover and it's Batman heading down in the sewers or coming out of the sewers.

I assume he's heading down in the sewers as the Robins search for him.

What did you think of this cover?

It was a little difficult for me to figure out what was going on at first.

Yeah.

Because the scale is off.

I mean, it looks like some of the Robins are human-sized, some of them are super mech-sized, and some of them are maybe just double human-sized.

Yeah, it was definitely a little difficult to tell exactly what they're doing.

I don't know if this was almost a panel or something like that, but not my favorite cover, not my favorite cover.

Yeah, I agree with you there.

But the art is good.

Yeah, Nick Drogoda, he has been doing excellent work on this series, just killing it.

So I do wonder, with a cover like this, how much of it was totally Nick Drogoda, or did the editor say, okay, here's what I want for the cover, or did Scott Snyder say it? Or would it just be interesting to know how that collaboration works?

Yeah, that would be interesting, for sure, for sure.

So in this issue, Harley Quinn joins Batman as he battles a SWAT team and tries to convince him to abandon his mission.

After escaping the police and voiding the Robins, Harley leads Batman through secret tunnels used by the Red Hood gang and tells him about her childhood.

Harley was raised by her mother, a neurologist obsessed with exposing Jack Grimm and J.K. Holdings, As a child, Harley secretly tracked down the man she believed was her father, a doctor living in France, and began talking to him online.
