Off Panel #562: REMIX! with Heidi MacDonald

This week's guest is the Boss of the Beat, the Eisner Award-winning comic site that is the blog of comics culture.

And Heidi, we're recording a new kickoff segment to our podcast because of some seismic news.

So to start, on a scale of one to 10, with 10 being absolutely wrecked, with n- Marvel's news that C.B. Cebulski was out as editor-in-chief, Steve Wacker is in, and that the publisher is moving to Burbank hitting today, how much did that ruin your Fanatics Fest experience?

Oh, totally, 10, wrecked it, you know.

I was, uh, I was at R- Fanatics Fest, uh, at their preview.

I was wandering around, you know, waiting to get some, uh, free chicken fingers.

And then, so incredibly, I was talking to Gareb Shamus, who I hadn't seen in years, and we were catching up, and then I just happened to look at my phone and was like, "Holy crap!"

[laughs]

And then I was like, "I gotta go, guys.

I gotta go." So yeah, here, here I d- here I am, just wrote my first story.

Of course my DMs are going nuts right now.

But, um, yeah.

Wow.

Well, the shoe dropped, David.

We were talking in our first recorded podcast, waiting for the shoe to drop, and then just less than 24 hours later, that shoe has bam, clang to the floor.

[sniffs]

Someone, some viewer, some listener needs to count all the times that Heidi's phone dings during this because-

I feel like that will be a strong indicator as to how seismic this news is.

But okay, so it is absolutely insane.

We kinda talked about this sorta thing, about how it kinda feels like there's gonna be a change, there needs to be a change, et cetera, et cetera.
