been a couple of days but we have been talking about the overlapping themes of witches of killer mothers associated with lakes and then this kraken thing These things have all been emerging.

And I'm expecting a culmination next week when Godzilla is released.

A movie that has already been compared to Terminator 2 and Dark Knight Rises.

Which, again, that connects quite a lot.

What is this thing? And then I'm looking at this Godzilla coming up.

The timing of it's intriguing as well, 11-3, which happens to be the date that Wicked was released, the first one.

I know we've had this conversation

the last couple video game movies where we're like, where's the balancing act of reference versus fan service to a detriment? I say that, but then the last couple Godzilla movies, they purposely use the old 50s Godzilla roars, which I think aesthetically looks great.

scarier or works scarier but so there's some moments where I was like okay cool but then I was like that doesn't even sound like it doesn't sound like the character but I also get it's from the video game but I'm like

But the fact that everyone got their thing

They did do the, what Godzilla's usually, the Monsterverse ones are critiqued of, and I'm not as strong on it, but I do agree to some extent that sometimes they cut to human reactions to be like,

oh my god! You know, when it's like, you don't have to cut every time Godzilla punches.

Not literally.

So I equated getting a cool interview with acceptance, and I think that... think that he gave me a great gift you know ali did mr ali did so anyway the um i i spent my career as an interview hound any opportunity if i saw anybody who i thought was vulnerable you know i'd be like i'll try to try to find try to get him on the phone or or do it in person at the event and i i was very i was very diligent in uh you know keeping keeping the backlog uh you know organized so that i could grab stuff getting harder and harder with technology changing but and as far as putting the years down I thought that was really important because I just thought that the person's reflections one week after shooting the movie might be different than they are you know 30 years after shooting the movie so I just thought a lot of these people are deceased now of course but you know And the funniest one, Jason, I'll tell you, because it's hilarious, was Haruo Nakajima, who played Godzilla in Gojira, the Japanese movie from 1954.

And he played Godzilla like, I don't know, eight or ten times.

And he didn't speak a lick of English.

And I don't speak any Japanese.

And so I have this interview with Haruo Nakajima that's been translated.

But the funny thing I was going to tell you was as he's talking to me, I'm sitting right across from him.

And as he's talking to me, I'm smiling and nodding because I'm, first of all, I'm just over the moon that I'm talking to Godzilla.

unironically one of the best Godzilla designs I've seen in, like, comic-y form.

It's basically the legendary Godzilla, but he looks pretty good.
