Now, sure, they've been doing this for years, so at least they were being honest about being money-grabbing bastards.

To keep up with the schedule, new editor Steve Wacker brought in a rotating cadre of writers, namely Mark Guggenheim, Zeb Wells and Dan Slott, with other writers like Roger Stern, Bob Gale and Mark Waid joining in every now and again.

Artists would also rotate as required.

I would only include the opening story in this collection, as well as the two-page update to Peter Parker's status quo.

As a Spider-Man comic, mostly ignored.

But as a heartfelt character piece, it's unsurpassed.

I would also include the text piece by editor Steve Wacker that told the real story behind the story.

Next up, a change of pace, and yet another in that sub-genre of Spider-Man stories, Spider gets trapped under rubble.

The first thing, you know, it's funny.

Um, the first editor that I had ever worked with on a major comic book thing, at least for mainstream, was a guy by the name of Stephen Wacker, who just took on editor-in-chief duties over at Marvel.

Oh, yeah.

right and the thing that steve between him and this guy named tom brennan who you want to talk about a network that of people who i used to work with and were no longer in the industry between tom and steve they advocated for me and one of the first things i ever did for them was a book called iron man enter the mandarin

The other thing that was kind of interesting in the New York Comic Con panel info was the panel called the House of Ideas.

Instead of Marvel's next big thing, it seems that Marvel's rebranding now that Stephen Wacker is taking over.

It's a small but very interesting little tidbit right there.

I mean, he's kind of making his own, so...

Kyle, you've had a chance to write a decent number of Marvel and DC.

Is there a character that you would like top of the list if they were like, all right, you know, Steve Wacker shows up, you know, the new EIC at Marvel.

He's like, hey, man, I'm going to let you be part of the relaunch.

As we get closer to New York Comic Con, all eyes will be on Marvel, a publisher very much in transition.

While San Diego saw the passing of the torch from outgoing EIC CB Cebulski to incoming EIC Steve Wacker, New York is the first time we'll get to see what changes Wacker has in store.

But that's not the only big change happening at Marvel.

Dan Buckley, the frequently controversial former president and publisher now titled Head of Marvel Comics and Franchise, is also leaving the company next year after helping shepherd the new Midnight Universe line of books.

So longtime sales and marketing executive David Gabriel is out and publisher Dan Buckley or head of story or whatever the hell they called him in, in this, uh, announcement is following him.

C.B. Cebulski is no longer editor-in-chief and he's been replaced by Steve Wacker.

A couple Disney folks in Brad Winderbaum and David Abdo are now leading Marvel overall.

And then crucially, I mean, this is like something that's coming up 'cause I, I'm pretty sure they're...

And, and don't get me wrong, it is absolutely wonderful, but in terms of, like, iconic hits from, like, superhero comic history, it's a really good comic that is not, like, a flagship book by any means.

And I think you and I are a- amongst its biggest, you know, celebrators, if you will.

And so Steve Wacker coming in, having the history that he does as, like, somebody who doesn't just make hits, but also makes really, really, really, really good comics with really, really, really good creators-

The color artist is Matt Hollingsworth, lettering by Chris Eliopoulos, and there are approximately 20,000 editors on this.

But I just want to call out most prominently Steve Wacker, who as of the last week is the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics.

Oh, really? Okay, interesting.

I did not know that.

There's been a lot that's happened in that time.

But we found out that he would be replaced by former Spider-Man editor Stephen Wacker, who had left comics.

to go work in like Marvel animation and things like that in LA.

And I'm guessing like, you know, beyond his talent as a comics editor, he's an LA guy.

But he's going to be taking over.

And I have a lot of feelings about this, Mark.

I'm curious to hear your feelings about what it means for Stephen Wacker to take over.
