E155: Will the Blues sign Snuggerud or another player to a long-term extension?

But anyways, today we're going to be talking about extensions because there have been quite a few big ones around the league this summer.

And it would be nice if the Blues would join the party a little bit with some of their players.

There's one I think we have in mind in particular.

So today on the show, we're going to start out by talking about the pending RFAs that could be signed to extensions.

So those are Jimmy Snuggerud, Jake Neighbors, Logan Mayhew.

There's one I'm forgetting.

Joel Hofer.

Yeah, Joel Hofer.

who's a pending RFA as well.

Then we're going to talk about the pending UFAs.

Not as exciting a discussion, but still worth having.

We'll focus on Jordan Bennington, Pugh Suter, and Tyler Tucker.

So we'll be leaving Brandon Carlo out of this.

We'll be leaving Torrey Krug out of this, believe it or not.

Anyways.

yeah and then so for for each of these players i'll sort of break down sort of why we're having this discussion and and the structure that we'll have it in we talked um about the McMichael extension already.

But for each player, we're going to talk about what their current contract is, what their projected contracts are from AFP Analytics, which is a site that does a lot of great work projecting contracts and tend to get pretty close.

So it's a good reference point for our discussion.

And for each of these players, I think we're going to be trying to answer the question, have they already earned an extension? Um, if so, have they earned a significant extension longer, longer term, bigger extension? Um, if no to either of those questions, what will we need to see from this player this season to maybe change that answer? Um, or at least maybe kick the can down the road or something like that.

So we'll try to have that, that discussion, um, for uh for each player and i think it's it's an interesting time to do so um lots of big name extensions around the league lately like celebrini bedard leo carlson um and the blues just transitioned right in their their front office from uh doug armstrong over to alexander steen uh as as gm and so We sort of had a reflection episode on Doug Armstrong's tenure a few weeks back where we talked about sort of one of the weaker points of his sort of game was the extensions he handed out.

We looked at Pavel Bucinavich and Ken Fowler.

There were some questionable contracts.

There were some good ones for sure, right? Robert Thomas, the offer sheets boys, things like that.

were great deals, but there were also a ton of questionable ones.

And so what will these extensions look like under Alexander Steen? It's tough to know so far.
