Number one, God brought them out of Egypt.

God brought them out of Egypt.

Now, I wanna tie it back to last week's verse.

It says, "By faith he," talking about Moses, "instituted the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood so that the destroyer of the firstborn might not touch the Israelites." Uh, the Hebrew children did not get out of Egypt by escaping.

They did not get out by fighting their way out.

God brought them out.

And I'm telling you, it's the same way in salvation.

You can't save yourself.

You can't do anything to be saved.

No, salvation is all of God.

God just does it, and that's what we see here in this story.

You know, a lot of times religions, uh, they, they put an emphasis on do.

You've gotta do these things, do these steps in order to try to please God.

But Christianity is not spelled D-O, it's spelled D-O-N-E, done.

"It is finished," Jesus said.

Jesus did for us on the cross everything that would have to be done in order for us to have a relationship with God and spend eternity with him.

So it's not about performance or perfection.

We're just saying it.

It, it's not about, uh, earning or deserving.

No, it's about the blood, and that's what the Passover's about here, the blood of Jesus.

They were in bondage.

They were slaves.

Death was coming, and so they were instructed to take a lamb, not just any lamb, but a spotless lamb, without blemish, and they took that best lamb they had and they killed it and they put the blood over the doorpost and on each side.

It's a picture of the cross.

And it is through the blood that they were delivered.
