0178: Victorian Machinery

But why I decided to pull out the recorder, because lord knows I haven't gotten much done writing-wise, you know, my plan was to finish, now that I finished the first draft of Explode, it's like, all right, now let's finish the first draft of my follow-up novel, The Knower, because it was very near done as well.

Just to get Explode off my mind for a while, put it on the back burner, and I'll move on to doing a proper edit.

You know, I figured I'd like to have another book under my belt too, because it's so close.

Why not? It'll take the pressure off of Explode.

It's like, yeah, you know, don't overthink it.

Don't put too much weight on this thing.

You got another book ready to go.

Don't worry about it.

But it's mainly just that the daily writing routine, I just fell off so hard.

I mean, it just doesn't even cross my mind.

You know, it's not even like I'm making the deliberate choice of like, oh, I ain't got it in me today.

I literally just go days and days and I don't even think about it.

Like once I finished Explode, it's like being a writer is like way back on the back burner of my life.

I just like just I just don't do it.

I don't even choose not to do it.

I'm not even aware that I didn't do it until it's like a few days later.

I'm like, fuck me.

How have I done nothing? Come on, dude.

Get back on the wagon.

It's really tough, man.

The daily habit.

I mean, I do think that was the secret to my eventual success in actually finishing a novel, but it is not easy.

It is a hard habit to forge.

And once you let it go, it's gone.

So hopefully I'll have better news to report on that front.
