HFCL has committed Rs 700 crore for an optical connectivity plant with 80% of output aimed at exports.

VVDN Technologies is investing Rs 500 crore in a 5G and satellite communications R&D facility Dixon Technologies, through a joint venture with Taiwan's Gemtech Technology, plans to manufacture optical transceivers in India.

These are the small but critical components that route data inside 5G towers and cloud data centers.

And until now, we've imported nearly all of them.

We've got Japanese holidays at the moment.

Also, Taiwan and China will be off.

So everything is going to get compressed into a shorter time frame.

They see the action in the U.S., obviously there's a spillover to chip makers in asia positive news for them and people won't want to go into month end not being involved in this market because then you come into the fourth quarter which is traditionally fourth quarter most years is pretty good for equity markets unless there's a horrible geopolitical story and even that seems to be cooling down as you were saying in the news earlier.

So that people know where you stand, what do you look for that would suggest to you that things, the center will hold, [laughs] and what suggests it won't? Like, what, what, wh-What do you look out for?

The things that make me worry whether it won't are things like President Trump talking about Taiwan in front of the Chinese in a way that implies that he wouldn't go to DEFCON 3 to defend the independence of Taiwan.

If Taiwan, a democracy, fell, especially a democracy which is so important when it comes to computer chips, was to, was to be taken out of the democratic side of the global ledger and put into the autocratic side, I think that would be absolutely catastrophic for the West.

With regard to things that are positive, I think still we have a system of language, law, literature, free enterprise, um, we once had free trade and I hope one day we'll go back to it, which has been proved over the last 500 years to be an incredible series of, as my friend Niall Ferguson puts it, killer apps, which are far superior to the Chinese economic model ultimately.

But in the short term, we're, uh, we're looking as though we're in a bad place.

I would love to know if the president is talking with our allies about this.

There's also some reporting that China may be looking at potentially doing something against Taiwan.

Are we prepared for that? Are we ready to act? We know that our munitions capabilities are extremely shortened as a result of this conflict with Iran.

So gas prices are certainly an issue.

What was the rationale behind forming this task force?

So we aimed together to clearly enlarge the collaborations of clinicians and researchers in the field of scars and EM within the world because we had the ERN skin toxin group restricted to members of the ERN skin HCPs.

So it was necessary to enlarge the collaborations with Asian, African, Taiwanese, and American collaborators.

And it was also the opportunity to involve researchers as Emmanuel, and epidemiologists as my colleague, and to really see how it is possible to enlarge clinical and basic research in the field of SCARS and EM also.

And we've gathered a fantastic group of people.

a hell of a conversation

So I'm sure something will come from that.

So what else did they talk about?

Right, so they discussed Taiwan.

On that, they stressed the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and opposed unilateral attempts to change the status quo.

They also backed freedom of navigation and overflight and adherence to international law.

The US reaffirmed its defense commitments to Korea and Japan.

Both sides want stability.

While trade and AI are dominating the Trump Xi summit in Washington, Beijing has made it clear that Taiwan remains at the core of its red lines.

China claims Taiwan as its own, even though it has never ruled the democratically governed island.

Now, both Taipei and Tokyo are watching the upcoming summit closely, with concern about how President Trump may handle the Taiwan issue.

Taiwan's authorities say they remain in close contact with Washington.

They also point to repeated U.S. assurances that its longstanding policy toward Taiwan has not changed.

Taiwanese Vice President Xiao-Bi Kim in an interview aired Monday said Taiwan will not compromise its democracy or freedoms in the face of China's growing military and gray zone pressure.

President Lai Ching-teh has repeatedly called for maintaining the cross-strait status quo while strengthening Taiwan's defenses.
