H&J 150 - Walker Keeps Rising

Uh, we'll start in the NL Central.

A lot of guys moving and grooving here, uh, as rosters are shuffling around Memorial Day.

Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw goes to the IL.

Chicago calls up Pedro Ramirez to place, replace him.

Uh, Ramirez has gotten a few at bats here and there.

One guy that the Cubs also called up, Kevin Alcantara, has barely seen the field.

Um, and frankly, I think he's the more interesting prospect.

He's just not getting at bat.

Scott, uh, what do you think about Ramirez and Alcantara?

Well, I mean, for fantasy purposes this year, there's, there's nothing, right? Like, you can't really be excited 'cause they're not gonna play.

Alcantara's one of their top five prospects.

He's this big, long, uh, l- lanky's the wrong word 'cause he's much stronger than me, but, uh, yeah, he's like 6'6" and he's got, you know, at least in the minor leagues, um, there's, you know, a couple questions about whether that strikeout rate's gonna work out.

I mean, it's in the th- you know, 30% so far this year in triple A.

Uh, I mean, albeit with 15 home runs in 41 games, right? So, like, he was hitting the ball really hard, but he strikes out a ton.

Um, that's a really...

Uh, he finally gets a start today.

What's he do in his first at bat? He strikes out.

So that's kinda what to expect from Alcantara.

I doubt he'll get enough playing time or be given a long enough rope to try to work through his, his strikeout issues, if they can be worked through the Major League level.

So, uh, that one won't work.

And Ramirez, like he, he got some playing time.

He's not, you know, he's, I guess sl- a slightly more well-regarded prospect overall.

He's got a better hit tool.

Uh, maybe there'd be some intrigue in like points leagues if he was getting some run.

I don't think there's a ton of power here.
