My friend Yoanny Cruz, one- and two-thirds perfect innings on just 18 pitches, 11 strikes, seven balls.

He had the velo working per Statcast.

Average four-seam fastball velocity of 100.3 miles per hour.

Uh, that over six four-seam fastballs.

And he's gonna get himself a good amount of strikeouts, nine and a half strikeouts per nine.

Now, looking at Statcast, seeing what we got to work with here.

Now, as you can see, you know, it's not like you got reds all over the place here, but he's gonna give you a very effective four-seamer.

He's gonna give you a good slider.

Yep.

It was the sweeper and the slider, which I think, I don't know if StatCast is confusing or not, but that's what has worked out really well for him.

And when you look at his stuff plus numbers, those are the pitches that it really, really likes.

So maybe it's just a matter of just switching things up a little bit, like maybe just going to the pitches that work really, really well, maybe pitching more off of the horizontal stuff, the east-west stuff as opposed to the north-south stuff and kind of using that to kind of pitch off of the breaking balls.

Yovani Cruz is a flamethrower, and flames he was throwing in this game.

He, per StatCast, had an average four-seam fastball velocity of 105.

.3 miles per hour over six four-seam fastballs.

Richard Lovelady, he retired three of the four batters he faced, and the three batters were the Phillies' numbers one through three batters in ex-Nats Kyle Schwarber, Trey Turner, and Bryce Harper.

If you go to a lot of Cubs games, or you watch Cubs games every day, you realize that the wind is blowing in a lot more than it's blowing out.

If you look at Statcast park factor for right-handed bats, it's the fourth hardest stadium in baseball, and left field especially is a little bit farther than most stadiums, where Alex Bregman likes to pull fly balls in the air to get to that power.

So I said, "Ugh, in his 30s? I don't love this huge contract." Now, if he was in Minute Maid, now Dyken Park, in Houston, if he was at Fenway, we're having a different discussion there.

It lines up much more with his profile.

But they, they can't measure that stuff, so they don't try.

And, and they don't.

Next Gen Stats is just using movement data.

And they g- they can use cameras, and they're using the equivalent of the StatCast stuff-
