During my study this past week here in the book of 2 Peter, I came across the following from Miguel Nunez quoting Warren Wiersbe who said this to say about the apostle Peter.

Peter had a tendency in his early years to feel overconfident when danger was near.

Wow, I sure can relate to the careless part of what Warren Wiersbe is talking about here.

In fact, when I look back over the decades, the years, and actually even just into last week, there are so many examples I can point to from my own life that reveal the truth about my resistance to submission, to submitting my will, my life, my preferences to God.

Like Peter, I as well have navigated seasons where I rushed ahead and should have waited, when I was asleep and should have prayed, when I talked and should have listened.

How about you? Have you tried living out your faith in Jesus on your own? Well, the truth is we all have, and today we are in good company as Miguel Nunez continues to say, Peter was the apostle who denied the Lord three times, disowning his best friend.

No one is better equipped to warn others against the danger of stumbling or falling than the one who has been through the experience.
