Cardassian

I remember the scene at the end where he freezes a fight.

And then I remember the Native American settlement that was in Cardassian territory.

And that was like a territorial issue.

And then I remember the traveler appearing at the end and Wesley kind of finding his way.

So when I went to watch it, I read the little blurb, and it triggered a few things.

I remembered...

I remembered Cardassians.

I remembered, you know, they didn't want to go...

So maybe there is a Thomas Riker movie possibility, you know, years later and stuff.

And you're the bird man of Cardassia or whatever.

Exactly.

That's outstanding.

i don't know how that works you know how sensitive or insensitive that is how politically correct that might be i don't know um who else have we got the borg obviously warforged humans are humans naturally um who else have we got uh i think that's pretty much the main ones

those are the main ones um You've got the Cardassians.

Oh,

I reckon they would probably be...

They are designed to be stronger and they're designed to be battle ready.

There's

your Cardassians.

There's your Cardassians.

So he did all kinds of cosplay.

He even did like a BDSM Cardassian.

Which was really just like a leather chest harness on some Cardassian stuff.

But he's aware enough that he noticed some people freaking out.

Yeah.

I think Star Trek had the opportunity and did not take it to be the MCU before the MCU existed.

Right? So in the 90s, you had TNG and DS9 and Voyager all overlapping, and you had them doing things where, like, okay, we're going to set up the Cardassians and the Bajorans in TNG, and we're setting them up in TNG to build DS9, right? And we're setting up the Maquis in DS9 to build Voyager, right? That was part of it.

And so if somebody had had the vision and ambition and whatnot to do it, you could...

You know, there was all this, like, well, we can't have...

They sent, like, a casserole dish to near space, right? [laughs] Oh, it was great.

Cardassian casserole.

I like it.

[laughs] But, but I, I'm curious bec- and, and I know that we're Home...

But beyond that, it was their responsibility to, uh, uh, to come up with a fresh look and, and to, but to keep it as consistent as, as they felt was appropriate.

And within the shows that Denise and I worked on-

on-Yeah, we, uh, uh, we, we had the benefit of being able to say, "This is the Federation style, this is the Klingon style, this is the Cardassian style, this is what the Romulans d- uh, do." And actually, that, that was an enormous amount of fun because-

Yeah

I, I think, uh, what would be very interesting is w- what is going to happen in terms of, uh, Earth joining the galactic community.

Uh, I, I think in a way, like, is, is the Earth going to, as a, as a planet, just kinda like sign on and become a full member of the Galactic Federation of Worlds, for example? Uh, or will it go its own way? Uh, and, and I think a good example is, uh, in, in the Star Trek series, uh, Deep Space Nine, there was this planet, Bajor, that had come out of a period of kinda like, uh, domination by the Cardassians, uh, who were like a, a reptilian race.

And, and the, and the Federation of, of Worlds was like, "Okay, we want you to join us." But there was this kinda like the whole series was based upon, well, should Bajor join? When is the right time to join? And I think in a way we're like that as a planet, that we shouldn't just rush headlong into signing onto something like the Galactic Federation, uh, a full partner because it's like, well, do, do we really wanna go down that path or, or is there another, another path? Um, a, a path where maybe humanity develops more i- in a kinda spiritual way.

Uh, some people talk about, um, Jedi admirals and, and the Earth being given the opportunity to develop in a, in a, in a way where we kinda like, you know, look at, look at our potential as, as a species.
