That was, that was sort of a, um, a pr- trade name, a product name, like Kleenex.

We got the revival of learning.

His dad is dying of cancer.

And like, okay, let me grab another box of Kleenex that'll finish listening to this podcast.

Blake's dad is dying of cancer and it's at the point where he's in hospice care at home.

So there's nothing they can do for him.

But-

Good God, I mean, he sits there with Resurrection of the Daleks and Kleenex.

[laughs]

It's a problem, you know.

And, um, one morning at breakfast, I was, I don't know how we got on the topic, but I was just prompted to tell them what I knew.

And, uh, we were all crying at the table, and, you know, the waitress brought me an actual box of Kleenexes because that's how hard I was, I was sobbing at the table, n- having never told this story to anyone except for, um, one person in my family.

And, uh, I said, "I don't know why I told you that.

I, maybe I shouldn't have told you that." And they said, "I think that this is actually really, really important information for people to be able to hear and to understand why it's taking so long, this process that we're in.

Oh my God.

And she literally handed me Kleenex, and I was like, "What do we do?" I mean, I never heard, I never spoke to him again.

But it was so funny.

And I'm sure that, you know, it led you to also see Felix for who he is.

The car radio stopped playing show tunes and began to talk about freezer food plans.

Groff snapped it off and leaned back to watch the turning dials on the gas pump.

Dick McHugh stared in wonder as Polly Chesbro put her arms around the woman and protected her from the harsh surrounding world.

After a moment, Mrs. Godeke pushed herself away, sniffing.

And I keep repeating, I'm concerned about automatic license plate readers, not simply flock cameras.

Flock has kind of become the Kleenex of the ALPR in the nation, right? When you refer to flock cameras, it's a brand name, but there are others.

Now, there have been a lot of reports lately about cities and whatnot and counties removing their flock cameras, but they're not getting rid of the automatic license plate readers.

They're moving to Axon, which is another automatic license plate reader system.

But one of my issues is I know Flock Cameras has an interstate database, meaning all the images go into this interstate database.

All this license plate information goes into an interstate database that, again, officers are often searching without a warrant without the legally required legal requirements to make it a reasonable search.

So if you get rid of all the Kleenex in your house, but you replace it with puffs, you still have tissues.

if you get rid of flock but replace with axon you still have the same problem you have a third party collecting this data and there's not been enough security to make sure that it is not accessed without proper legal justification so for example knoxville tennessee they did the same thing they let their flock license agreement expire they picked up axon so pay attention if your locale is either gotten rid of or is letting expire or is even considering getting rid of FLA cameras, ask them, are they planning on replacing it with something else? Is it simply you're going to rob Peter to pay Paul or are you actually getting rid of the automated license plate readers or are you looking for a way to better secure the data that is there? Okay, I want to end the day with a couple of news items involving women.

The education minister has advised, you know, fine, wear your T-shirts, do your picket line if you feel like it, but do not speak to the children about this.

Yeah, I mean, as I enter the public school system, I must say, I'm just like, what is this? I think, you know, I've already been asked to supply paper towel and Kleenex to the classroom where my son is in, which I find...

absolutely absurd if you know we spend 30 billion dollars on primary education in this province and we don't have enough supplies for like toilet paper but anyway um so i think maybe teachers have some legit grievances but i agree with the um i think they do sorry i think they do But I also think, yes, keeping the kids out of it.

I was a kid of the Harris years where, you know, my teachers wore these endangered species shirts.
