Don't Know What To Do - A Ranma 1/2 Podcast
May 26, 2026 · 2 hr 10 min · 15 segments
In this episode, we grab some popcorn with Dan and sit down for a fun double feature of two well received Ranma movies that might not actually be movies, depending on who you ask. What even is a movie…
I, I got a list of, of things to watch, and I don't believe I gave you a lot of information as to why I decided to put these together, why I wanna do an episode covering all of these.
I couldn't really put...
I couldn't really piece it together myself, no.
So the theme we're kinda going here, uh, we're kinda covering things that sometimes get called movies and sometimes don't, and just, just to tackle the question of what's a movie?
I mean, Team Ranma Versus the Legendary Phoenix, I had to look it up, but apparently it was only called a movie because it was a theatrical release with, like, two other fairly small, like, short pieces.
I can't remember what they were, but they were, they were all about the same length as this one.
Yeah, it was a triple feature.
Mm-hmm.
And in fact, the, the other Ranma movies, the, the movie movies, the ones everybody recognizes as this is a movie, those were parts of double features.
Oh, really?
Yeah, um, and good luck finding information on what they were aired with.
That, that, that part never gets chronicled well on wikis.
Yeah, a lot of these, it's just things getting telephone.
People heard it as that.
Mm-hmm.
My first time hearing about it, I saw it referred to as a movie.
And there's also the question of what is an OVA? What counts as that?
I mean, the OVA is self-explanatory, is the original video animation, or original animated video, and the other means of it.
Sort of direct to video, basically.
Yeah, but like, there are things that, like, don't get included.
Like for example, the hot song contest specials.
Those were also original animation.
