SarahHOST
13:53
Uh-
JoeHOST
13:53
I don't, I don't understand how we're gonna get OVAs at this point.
JoeHOST
13:56
I just, that just doesn't really seem possible.
JoeHOST
13:58
Uh-
SarahHOST
14:08
Maybe it's just like a...
SarahHOST
14:10
I, you know-
JoeHOST
14:10
Just like really ambitious avant-garde like OVAs just out of nowhere.
SarahHOST
14:15
Well, maybe it's like the OVAs are like, "Oh, here's if she was with this guy instead of Tamaome" or something.
ForneverWorldHOST
24:32
Naruto live action stuff, they're going to talk about it in some form or another.
ForneverWorldHOST
24:36
The Naruto limited TV anime, the four OVAs, they're going to talk about that very much so in that one.
ForneverWorldHOST
24:41
Then the big thing that was initially released by Viz Media and then Variety reported on it, although it was mostly put out there like Variety was the ones that leaked it, regarding Naruto having a movie.
ForneverWorldHOST
24:52
It could very well be that that was just a mistranslation or miscommunication and it could very well be that we're finally going to get the announcement of the Boruto omnipotence arc.
Brayden Arbitrary WaterHOST
3:01
For three American dollars, you can join the OJISAN cast here, where you can listen to the anime podcast that ZP and Pete and I do roughly once a month, sometimes a little bit longer than that.
Brayden Arbitrary WaterHOST
3:19
By the time you hear this, our Trigun pod should be up, after which we are going to do an OVA potluck.
Brayden Arbitrary WaterHOST
3:29
We're each going to pick an OVA and share it with the rest of the class.
Brayden Arbitrary WaterHOST
3:36
So you can look forward to that.
Chris Zombie PieHOST
3:39
With the unofficial rule being like, yeah, the OVAs that we're picking are going to be, generally speaking, about 90 minutes or less.
Brayden Arbitrary WaterHOST
3:47
You
Chris Zombie PieHOST
3:47
can go over that, but I think a true OVA... is a very tightly packed 90 minutes.
Brayden Arbitrary WaterHOST
3:55
Or, you know, it's Legend of the Galactic Heroes and it's 135 episodes.
WolfieHOST
10:24
So
MarsHOST
10:25
I was talking to, um, Green Sativa a little bit while we were waiting to go and like it's so crazy because like in my head sci-fi horror is a specific thing but then when I kind of lift the like kind of really take a step back there's so many options you know and so many like different things like I went through there were in the economic boom in Japan in the 90s People were making shit for the video store, like these OVAs, and there was a whole bunch of 20-minute to hour-long...
WolfieHOST
11:08
What is an
MarsHOST
11:08
OVA? I don't know what it...
RandyHOST
2:39
[laughs] Uh, Ken, what's new with you?
KenHOST
2:42
I am still watching OVAs.
KenHOST
2:43
But I'm s- I feel like I'm slowing down, though, um, because-
RandyHOST
2:46
Mm-hmm
RandyHOST
4:33
[laughs]
KenHOST
4:33
...
KenHOST
4:33
these OVAs with the TV series? Now, in Ah! My Goddess' case, it is, like, basically a one-to-one manga adaptation that the TV show is, so that might be great.
RandyHOST
4:41
Mm-hmm.
RandyHOST
2:42
[laughs] Uh, Ken, what's new with you?
KenHOST
2:46
I am still watching OVAs, but I'm s- I feel like I'm slowing down, though, um, because-
RandyHOST
2:50
Mm-hmm
KenHOST
2:50
...
KenHOST
4:36
'Cause they have TV series, and it's like, do I want to-
RandyHOST
4:39
Right
KenHOST
4:39
... like, sully [laughs] how much I like these OVAs-
RandyHOST
4:42
[laughs]
Keith BlissHOST
59:46
It feels like they took an entire season, smashed it into one movie, and this is the Cliff Notes versions.
Keith BlissHOST
59:51
This is, if anybody who's ever watched an anime before, you've watched the anime movie, and then there's an OVA of the exact same story, except they expand upon all of it.
Keith BlissHOST
60:02
That's what we are at.
Keith BlissHOST
60:03
We're at the movie portion.
Keith BlissHOST
60:04
We're now waiting for the OVA version of Transformers 1.
DJ NikHOST
60:10
Very nicely put.
DJ NikHOST
60:11
And from Dave Proctor, we come to Mr. Aaron Case, who writes in about this one.
PaulaGUEST
163:13
Okay
DawnHOST
163:13
... uh, they ask, the OVAs, they're the most divisive part, so it's always neat to hear what people took away from them, particularly Message.
DawnHOST
163:21
I feel really-
PaulaGUEST
163:22
Mm
DawnHOST
163:22
... bad, Tali.
DawnHOST
163:23
I have never seen the OVAs.
DawnHOST
163:26
[laughs]
PaulaGUEST
163:27
I think I tried, and I, I, I tried to go back and watch them in my 20s when I found out they existed.

ForneverWorldHOST

The 2023 special still don't even exist.
ForneverWorldHOST
1:36
And half of y'all think it's just another OVA.
ForneverWorldHOST
1:39
So exactly what is going on is what many people are thinking.
ForneverWorldHOST
1:42
And honestly, there's a lot to be said.

21 MINS LATER

From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it.
ForneverWorldHOST
22:25
sustained the fandom for the last how many freaking years like ever since the boruto anime went off air literally we got boruto manga once a month so yeah absolutely very very excited depending on how they release this thing if they do a limited theatrical release starting to not look likely starting to look like if they're branding it now as this new limited run tv anime special thingy majig it's probably going to be that we're going to get the episodes on again whatever streaming services that grab the license which i can only imagine if netflix is reporting constantly like we just talked about naruto is like what the number two most watched anime for og naruto only behind one piece that gets brand new stuff probably netflix would be the best bet to get that bag but i mean put it everywhere but netflix probably the one and regardless that license is extremely high like naruto is not even making the biggest amount of moves yet and it's already red hot what happens if tomorrow kishimoto puts out a new manga again side topic for another time but this is insane i am very excited i am questioning like dog it does look a little bit sketchy just a little bit that they're the way they're maneuvering this thing as if this is like some brand new stuff when in reality it's something that was created a while back has been upgraded and polished and is being marketed around for different audiences to basically get the hype going genius moves I'm somebody that actually, I like to kind of sometimes look behind the scenes and really understand what's going on.
ForneverWorldHOST
23:59
Like again, unless there's two products that is coming on October 10th, we're getting the four OVA episodes polished and marketed as a limited run or variety kind of having people thinking it's a movie.
ForneverWorldHOST
24:10
So that's what's happening.
