Constant ruled the Earth government, whereas the Sentiment Freedom League controlled side 1 and 4, along with the linear cities.

Now, I won't get too deep into G-Savior, but it does become very important when we look to see what happens in the later timeline.

And as a heads up, things are about to get very dark, so please prepare your ears.

Constant was facing a major food crisis, and the discovery of the new enzyme could have solved the problem.

However, Constant also wanted to use the discovery to control the food supply as well as the colonies.

Well things didn't work out too well for them as the colonies were able to fight off consent thanks to the G-Savior.

Now skipping ahead further into the Universal Century, continued devastating wars as well as the constant draining of resources pushed the Earth to its breaking point.

Now we don't know exactly how bad things became but I'm sure civil wars were breaking out as well as countries attacking other countries over whatever food supply and resources they could find.
