SELECT/START: ONIMUSHA - WAY OF THE SWORD

It gives you all of that and much, much more.

It's Capcom's first completely new mainline Unimusha game in roughly 20 years, and it's set in Edo period Kyoto, where historical Japan is being invaded by supernatural Genma, which, by the way, I would add to Genma in this game, I don't know if it was because of, because we, you know, you know, we're in this stage of development with video games, but I remember literally after playing Unimusha 1 and 2, the Genma is a lot smarter and more intelligent.

They have dialogue and everything in this one.
X
128:08Xavier JosiahHOST
Like, I don't recall them ever talking at all.
X
128:11Xavier JosiahHOST
So the Genma in this time around is, they're a lot better.
X
128:15Xavier JosiahHOST
They're a lot more intelligent in here.

128:18Xavier JosiahHOST
so you're getting invaded by genma again and demons that emerge from hell when the when an entity called malice overflows into the human world importantly capcom described this as the new continuity rather than a direct continuation from earlier games you don't need to know the unimusha warlords unimusha 2 unimusha 3 or unimusha dawn of dreams which Mind you, I still have not played, and I believe they are making that available for the PlayStation 5, so eventually I will play that finally, because I had issues on why I didn't want to play that game for some reason.

They do give you a choice of being able to play Uh, you know, in defensive mode or, or offensive mode.
Episode 273: Onimusha and Star Wars Zero Company Impressions!

So it's sort of a soft reboot of the franchise.

From what I've been able to tell in the bit I've played, there's really no... references to previous games yet um tonally it's quite different so it might be weird if they did try to fold in um the previous entries or you know references and stuff um and but at its core it's it's Onimusha you're a fucking badass samurai with a uh fucking supernatural gauntlet and you're fighting Genma and Yokai and you know Japanese supernatural shit seeing as you have had a good bit more time with it than I have and I already know your feelings on this I mean we've talked about it already some but how are you feeling now a little over halfway through

21:44Hawes BurkhardtHOST
I'm loving it it had to honestly take a second for me to understand what the game is doing it in terms of how it's presenting itself for the whole package

Episode 453: Fated for Fire Emblem – Q&A Quest

don't think I played it, but I remember that it exists.
D
26:18David McBurneyHOST
Yeah, Genma Onimusha, which only came out on the original Xbox right at launch.
D
26:25David McBurneyHOST
Never mentioned again.
D
26:28David McBurneyHOST
No future Onimusha game ever came to the Xbox at the time.
D
26:38David McBurneyHOST
And it's just like, this is weird because, like, that version has exclusive content that was not, they didn't bother putting in the remaster.
D
26:47David McBurneyHOST
Weird.
D
26:53David McBurneyHOST
I can only assume that the code for Genma was lost.

Probably.
