Akane Tendo

And the irony there is just huge.

Akane is this tough martial artist who notoriously hates boys.

It really creates the prototype for that will-they-won't-they dynamic we see almost every rom-com today.

I mean, they are constantly bickering and insulting each other, yet they're the only ones who can actually protect the dojo.

In an industry that almost always recasts after a 30-year gap, they managed to bring back the original main voice cast.

It is almost unheard of.

We're talking Kepei Yamaguchi as Ranma, Noriko Hidaka as Akane, Megumi Hayashibara all returning.

These actors are playing teenagers they first voiced three decades ago, and the critical consensus is that it completely preserved the soul of the characters.

He's funny as hell.

His exasperation at Ranma for forgetting everything, his puppy dog infatuation with Akane, how he goes from big man on campus to puppy dog.

But nothing exemplifies Damien's work best as Ryoga when he's playing off the two Ranmas.

Damien makes the character his own, able to stand on his own two legs against his original predecessor with energy and bravado.

but also a gentle heart when he needs.

Sure, he's out to steal Akane, but with Damien's performance, sometimes you want to root for the lost little piggy that could.

This is going to be for comedy lead.

Like I stated with comedy support, Dawn to Dawn could go either way.
