Daniel chapter seven and eight, as we've been walking through the last two weeks, if you need the big story of what's going on here, it was last week's sermon.

If you haven't listened to that one, because that really helps put all this in context.

But basically these visions in Daniel chapter seven and eight, they paralleled the dream of Nebuchadnezzar we saw in chapter two.

The visions of Daniel in chapter seven and eight were interpreted to him by an angel, probably Gabriel, and they run parallel to the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar that Daniel interpreted in chapter two.

We're seeing four kingdoms, right? In Nebuchadnezzar's dream, it was an image, a large statue, gold, silver, bronze, iron, clay, Right? And we saw these four different kingdoms.

And then in these visions, we're seeing four different beasts that are being explicitly interpreted to us in chapter eight, exactly what they are, especially in next week's text.

Some of what you just heard, some of what we just read, we're gonna look at next week.

the 2300 evenings and mornings, the little horn that was described as coming out of the third beast, that'll be like next week.

Today, what I want to do with you is I want to look at the second beast, the third beast, and the fourth beast, and specifically the little horn of the fourth beast.

How many of you didn't expect to come to church and hear about three beasts? That's where we are, all right? It's the word of God.

At the end of chapter 7, we're told he's in shock, full of fear for his people, worried about the future.

And in chapter 8, we're told in this vision of the second, third beast, it left him sick for days, overwhelmed and devastated.

A sword that pierces to the division, pierces us to the division of soul and spirit, joint and marrow.

You cannot handle what God wants to do in you or through you as long as you live prioritizing the idol of your own comfort.
