The Cavs, I'm sure we all know, start off with Philly on Thursday in Philadelphia, which is, of course, going to be a tough test right off the bat.

But out of the first 10 games the Cavs have this season, Six of them are first teams that are considered elite, the best of the best, top five title odds, all of that stuff.

Then another two are against at least playoff hopefuls, teams that should make the playoffs at least to play in and can be a real threat to a team like the Cavaliers.

Then they do have two teams that are pretty mid, to put it lightly, but still you just never know in the NBA.

I don't know if that's going to be the case this season, but I think it'll be better than it was a year ago when the Cavs did the opposite of 24-25 and just got off to a disheveled start.

The next night we looked horrible, had a big win going to Detroit, whooping them, and then responded with losing a couple heartbreakers over the next week.

And in both of those first 10, 15 games of the season in 24-25 and 25-26, I don't think the schedule was nearly as daunting as it is for the Cavs this season.

And if I stretch that out a couple more games to 13 games, I could add in another elite game.

going to Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks just a couple days after we faced them at home.

Then also facing the Miami Heat, who maybe I wouldn't call them elite, but they're definitely closer to the upper echelon of the NBA than they are to being mid or below that.

Like, Throw out the win and loss record, how we fear as far as that goes over that first 10 or 13-game stretch.

Being tested early on with a group of veterans mixing in the young guys and the new additions that we are, I think that could go a long way getting us prepared to face the adversity that's going to come with a long 82-game NBA schedule coming and then the playoff run.

I feel like early tests, whether it ends in losses or wins, is a very good thing for a team with true championship aspirations, especially a team that isn't like the New York Knicks, basically returning the exact same rotation minus a piece or two.

This is a different team, and even if you consider – James Harden, not a new player anymore.
